Imo, thereās no good or evil, thereās just people doing things that other people do or donāt like. Violence is one of these things. We can justify violence if people in general think itās for a valid cause, in fact we can justify more or less anything in this way. Take, as an example, the Nazis. Had the axis won the war, the allies would likely have been villified by history while the Germans were painted as saviours. Morality is just an abstract value that people take way too seriously. Like whoās to say itās immoral to kill a rapist without provocation? Why is that against the law? Similarly, why do people view serial killers as such monsters? In most cases, itās the only way they get a feeling of fulfilment/enjoyment, and who are we to say that that is definitely wrong? Sure, let the bereaved family kill the killer (if they can get their hands on them) but keep the flawed logic of āself-fulfilment is no valid exuse for murderā out of the equation, because nobody can prove that.

Good and evil seem to be societal constructs and for the most part work to keep most of society functioning.
Maximize happiness and decrease suffering.
Serial killers are monsters because they cause suffering and bring fear into society as a whole in order to get happiness. Therapy/meds can probably be helpful for them to find fulfillment but success is not guaranteed. The way society functions is to maximize happiness and decrease suffering and the way serial killers function goes against that. Everyone canāt be happy so you go for most happiness. There might be more difficult examples than serial killers tho
