A pro gamer is someone who uses competitive gaming as a full source of income. They earn money by winning tournaments and are also paid by sponsors.

Examples are; Nickmercs, Shroud, Dr Disrespect…

People tend to misuse the term pro in any context. You don’t even have to be good at the game to be a pro. If people like watching you lose all the time, but pay you just for the entertainment, that’s good enough.

I would argue tho, that if don’t make money from the actual game (tournaments or sponsors) but only streams (Twitch, YouTube…) that would make you a pro streamer, not necessarily a pro gamer…hmm

Is the same as a musician. You are a musician if you know how to play an instrument. You are a virtuoso if you are really talented, but you are only a professional if you make a living out of music, be it as a touring musician, recording musician or music instructor. You don’t have to be a virtuoso to make a living of it though.

Cartoonz was never a “pro” player. He’s an entertainer. I watched CYSZ before he wah’d about the game and left, he was decently good. Never watched Shifo. But yeah, these guys played in pub matches, they never went up against anyone actually “good”. Because of that, you can’t give assessment to their level of skill beyond basic.

CYSZ was a joke. Like average at best. Even below the almighty hated BTL. Whenever I saw any of his videos I would cringe everytime because of the amount of mistakes he made constantly. And that was during the first few months when Pred was still good and FT wasn’t buffed.

Today? He wouldn’t survive a 1v1 against me and 3 bots
