Why do Predator's wear their food on their hip

Why do they kill small creatures and wear their skulls? What is the point of that?
I don’t quite understand the trophy worn on their sides and the ones on the Predator 2 ship.

and also why do they not eat humans? Is it because Yautja have some close DNA with homosapiens - hense its ability to heal Dutch?

Those are trophies from their first hunts as infant yautja

The aesthetic. Humans have a healthy fear of bones, because you aren’t supposed to see them. And animal skulls are a lot less obtrusive than human skulls.

I don’t know if there’s a lore reason that has been given.

My thoughts on the matter of the smallest skulls and trophies they wear is that they represent some great difficulty beyond the animal itself.

To use the small bird skull as an example, imagine climbing a very tall cliff to reach a nest but only being allowed to claim the Skull if you do so while not holding onto the cliff face. So to get your trophy, you must leap out into the air, snatch a birdie and successfully remount the cliff face. Failure to grab back on is a death sentence. Hence greater acclaim for being a master of Predkour.

Young Yautja might climb and jump the lower parts of the cliff, testing themselves until they are sure, they can make the leap and claim their skull.

PS. They do eat human, at least in Hunters and Hunted the prequel to the last movie.

There are yautja that eat humans, OP. Typically the main point is that they kill humans for sport not food though. I don’t think we’re gamey enough tasting.

Only when cooked. Best flavor is raw.

Wolf Skull:
Skull of a notorious giant Timberwolf that dominated the northern lands

Bobcat Skull:
The skull of a large, ferocious bobcat that once roamed the forests of north America

Coyote Skull:
The skull of a coyote pack leader

These trophies which are the default trophies my thoughts, are just plain place holders for the Mythics.
Just reading those descriptions do not really gel with me in relation to the character of the yautja. They are trophies relative to regular people(human hunters) but really not to yautja.

I really hope illfonic puts more emphasis on the ability to collect more of those challenging trophy skulls we’ve all seen and heard from the lore.

My concern is how they will do this. My guess is, probably not in this iteration of PHG.

Our only hope is that they release the cages full of them.

If you ain’t hanging a McDonalds box on your belt, shame on you. Time honoured tradition of chicken nuggie slaying and McFlurry slurping.

Seriously, it’s like nobody ever heard of trail mix

I remember seeing Predators from AvP 2010 having the smallest bones imaginable on their armor. It really could just be modeling issues and all, but the idea that there was inherent difficulties in obtaining those trophies like @Slasher_Clone has mentioned is pretty darn interesting for head canon.

They must have learnt it from an initial tribe where ornate bones might come from their feed or pet ,etc. I see the bones on the Jungle Hunter, et all. But as for canon–still hitting a wall with that.

They need to be earnable through hunts not loot crates too.

Exactly. I’m sure it was an idea at some point but the challenges developing that would be an entire DLC alone. I keep having to remind myself.
