Why the game is going to fail [Probably]

This is by no means going to be comprehensive or helpful, but hopefully if you agree with at least one points I can verify I’m not just expecting too much.

All from PC perspective

Firstly, the game is very difficult to like immediately, The gameplay and animations for the FT are super clunky, I think its better now but AI movement on launch looked like ps2 level stuff. Its not attractive. I bit the bullet and still bought it anyway after being amazed at how shit a gameplay trailer looked, but Im a big fan of the IP.

The performance is… Oh boy… I don’t really know how to explain it other than unstable, whether thats frames generally or random bouts of stuttering or disconnects etc, its not great. Not a flex post so I’ll just say I know my machine can handle it

Bugs… There is a lot of them, more as predator, or I’ve just been lucky. I think that mostly has to do with what Id consider a very very bare bones movement system, when you think about it, there is run and jump. All other moves are a variation of this, the leap seems to be just a super jump and tree movement is awful because its literally press a button to climb tree and now branch = ground. If any of this makes sense, compare how basic the movement feels and looks in this game and compare it to your favourite open map/world game where you are free to roam, it just doesn’t add up for me.
This mixed with the stamina bugs, impossible defuse etc its just eesh

Progression is ROUGH, you unlock everything by level 100 and that is it. By then you should have had enough veritanium to buy what cosmetics you want for your limited builds and if you want everything, thats maybe a few more weeks, but once you’ve bought all the cosmetics, there is nothing to strive for. There are no leaderboards, no challenges to unlock things etc. A 1v4 like this needs to be built around stats and customisation to be worth it, whereas right now, its not really based around anything.

Loot boxes, for those of you who somehow don’t know, there are trophies , a mask and knives hidden behind loot boxes that you cant even see until they drop, if these are a mythic, good luck. I have played since just after launch and spent every penny I’ve earned on lootboxes and never had one mythic.

This links into my progression point, why have them at all? You could have locked everything behind meaningful challenges that meant that if they had a certain mask on, you know this is going to be a tough game, rather than everyone buying the best looking 3-4 and everyone looks the same forever. I love the idea of grinding for some worthwhile cosmetic stuff rather than mindlessly playing the game still hoping they add new content, imagine a wolf or scar mask where you have to get 100 FT kills to unlock and how cool that would look.

I truly believe massive overhaul is needed or the game will have a diminishing player base until its a few die hard fans left, until the next predator game comes out.

This game is awesome, you have alot of co.plaints from someone who sounds like they dont have alot of playtime in the game.

I am a day 1 player and cant seem to agree on any of the points you made here. Lol

I’m addicted to this game. Alot of other people are too.

I stopped playing this game as much as I want to because most of the time this game is a menu simulator.
You sit 45 mins in the menu and queue up to get a game with only 2 or 3 people in FT that have never played the game before and die to NPCs. And the round ends after 4mins.
Most of the time I dont get matches, and If I get some its horrible to play cause most people suck hard here and if you know what to do as Predator its an ez game even against a premade team. Only good premades manages to kill good Predators. Like 9/10 matches there is no real fun.
One exception is if you find people to play with you in a team. Thats it.
Im gonna leave this game soon or later cause sitting 1hour in the menu to play one match is not worth my time. sry

Your on pc, that’s the issue
Most of the player base is on ps4…
My ft wait times is 30 secondsmy pred wait time is 2 to 4 minutes. All times of the day and night.
This game was made originally for ps4. Just saying

This is dishearteningly pessimistic. I’m a big fan. Casual gamer. Usually. But I’ve dumped three weeks of heavy gaming into this game. It’s not perfect, but nothing is. When someone puts something in my hands that I enjoy, I say, “thank you” and don’t complain about every aspect that bothers me.

Anticipating something to fail bc you don’t like it is how you start wars in Vietnam. There are a lot of casual gamers (and kids) out there that enjoy this experience. Games coming out these days were a literal day dream when I was a kid.

Is the game perfect? No. (Is anything?) Would I rather have gone without the experience and be 40 bucks richer? Absolutely not.

It’s been an issue this entire gaming generation. Just think about it. Older technology was durable bc it was bigger and held less information. Nokia phones were indestructible but now smart phones have so many errors and issues. We put a man on the moon with less code than what’s in our phones.

Companies can only afford so much play time on their prototypes. When it’s released to the public, so many more bugs are found bc play time becomes astronomic. “What happens if I leap, throw a projectile, then leap again?” Was probably not a train of thought in the studio. All it takes is one of thousands of players to notice it for the game to seem rushed. There’s a lot of code and a lot of room for error these days.

But culturally it does seem the new norm is get the game out and fix as it goes.idk what the correlation is to my first point tho

Asysmetrical games take time to work build up.
It’s not like a CoD game that’s a straight up mindless shooter.

There are classes, builds, balancing issues , some bugs (I rarely experience bugs and I play alot) that will get reviewd and corrected but it will take time to develope this into an even better game.

When dead by daylight first came out it is nothing like it is now, it’s a completely different moster than whAT it was.
Same for Friday the 13th.

If your this distressed about it, take a break from it, come back in 6 months or a year and you ll see how transformed this game will be…
It happens to all asysmetrical multiplayer games.
For the better imo.
They get better with time.

Atm this doesn’t seem like your type of game to be honest. If these are the issues your experiencing.

Because I’m not going through any of those issues. Neither are alot of other players as well.

Keep in mind this hasn’t been updated in a couple of weeks. But it is the number 12 selling game in the US as well.

I’m not fussed about the little things in this game. I love it as it is. I have no complaints about. I play ft and pred. Alot. It feels great to me. Especially since my control scheme is 100% different from everyone elses.
Im very comfortable with it

Well, on PS4 it runs like butter now, only hit a bug every now and then. They just need to optimize PC and I think we will be good for the entire playerbase.
