The sad part is when you see they are grownups livestreaming…
Why the player base of this game sucks so much?
Who knows… Maybe they are, maybe they are not…🤷🏻♂️
Whether if they are, or not, it is, unfortunately, what you are stuck with (frustrating I know).
I cannot remember that it has ever been different, and I have been around since launch (you are an “old timer” in the forum as well, if my memory serves me right?).
A long time ago someone wrote in the forum that this game has a player base with such a big difference in skill level that it makes it frustrating for either side of the fence. The design of the game does not do anything to mitigate it either.
I am no sniper material myself when it comes to locking down a pred player at long range, so I would be hypocritical to point fingers at those with a poor aim, but basics like following markers, simple stuff like “do not camp in death traps aka small buildings when faced with an alien with an AoE weapon outside”, or team work (implied in Fire TEAM) should be pretty doable. As Eshtion wrote: many are movie fans. So they are probably searching for some of the atmosphere from the movies in the game, and they end getting surprised by a bad high paced shooter.
That’s the sad truth for games now a days, if enough bad players don’t feel like trying to get better they keep complaining until the good players get handicapped to their level.
It’s frustrating because ESO actually has a pretty engaging combat system for an MMO. Having a focus on animation cancels was one of the main draws for me because that kinda shit is always fun to experiment with. It’s not a perfect system & can get repetitive WHEN you master the systems & have your Ability Bars fleshed out, but there’s at least an attempt currently to be more than stand in place & spam abilities. Which unfortunately it seems like the Combat Update is going to move the game towards.

Aka what I did when I first started😂, but I learned the system up to a point and can kill a person at least and that’s what people need to do learn the system.
This is why I prefer old games, where updates were released to address bugs and add content, nothing more. Balance was never an issue. Games were what they were and people just needed to deal with it.
Sounds fun.
There’s nothing I hate more than when games or sequels to games dumb down the player’s abilities & options. I think the only time I’ve seen an MMO in particular actually ADD more options to it’s gameplay was the Combat Overhaul in Xenoverse 2 going from Xenoverse 1. It’s not a combat system I enjoy entirely, but the difference between XV1 & XV2 is night & day in the amount of tech & options the Player has both offensively & defensively. Because XV1 PVP ultimately devolved into “Turn Super Saiyan and spam your Ultimate because SSJ gave UNLIMITED attacks for as long as you had even 1 Point of Ki” whereas XV2 you can’t do that at all, your Race choice matters, your Height & Weight matters, you gotta learn Combo Routes to land Stamina Breaks, you have to know when to Block & when to Evasive, etc. There’s a lot going on & even I haven’t learned it all despite playing since 2016.
I have never herd if that game but it sounds fun as hell, what can I play it on.
PS4, PS5, any current Xbox really, PC too. I mean it’s everywhere, it’s DB.
Great, I’ll check it out thanks.
Devs had such little experience with console shooters they thought it would be a good idea to drop an aim-based crossplay pvp multiplayer game with inadjustable deadzones and practically nonexistent aim assist onto a playing field vs KBM.
So the skill floor for console is literally just a bunch of people staring at the ground and probably a half second of input lag at 20 fps. (Though this is a recurring thing, console back4blood had a hilarious amount of input lag and so did Outriders but atleast those are pve, developers just suck now.)
Handles like one of those bad pc -> ps3 ports and no one stepped in and said no, despite how much bad controls were clearly going to affect balance. There wasn’t even any kind of alternative playstyle for the players that cant aim to make them somewhat useful (aside from beta grenade launcher lol, lmao even).
Amazing how avp2010 had better aiming on console.
Oh let’s start a training regiment for the new guys!
I think most other games have some type of skill based matchmaking.
Sounds fun, I’m in.
The few who actually talk on the mic, 9 times out of 10 say “I know what I am doing” then proceed to die to AI within 30 seconds
You just can’t fix stupid
Same. I’ve fought potatoes in other multiplayer games and most of them were decent or at least knew what they were doing, but they lacked skill, which is fine.
PHG potatoes on the other hand are str8 up brain-dead.
Depending on the size of the player base, games usually match based on level.
But the problem here is that people at level 150 (before they removed the cap) played as bad as a day 1 potato. Then people level 1 (literally bought the game) but that were experienced in other online FPS, were outperforming them.
Pred is difficult to play at high level as projectile weapons are not easy to use, so potatoes opt out for melee. FT is easy to play, but requires very good teamwork, which is missing at potato level. This extreme vs the very skilled and competent player extreme makes the games very one-sided. The payers in the middle feel it too as potatoes are too easy and premades or top preds are too difficult. There is no middle ground.
All I ask is for them to do the basics. Do objectives, engage AI, knife them if you can’t shoot. But god jesus fucking christ they can’t even do that… playing solo basically mean you have to do everything while they waste any ammo crate you spot. Playing pred against potatoes is super boring as well.
