Why the player base of this game sucks so much?

You play ESO as well?

Yeah played it for about 5 years now. Definitely a good game, a fun game. But really not looking forward to the Combat Update, and apparently neither are most people.

I don’t really play it a whole lot but my dad plays it and it can take up too 3 people to kill him on certain builds.😂

Yeah Tanks are absolutely insane in ESO. I have a mate who runs an Imperial Tank called Braccus & I’ve seen this man tank upwards of 70K+ damage in one hit & come out no worse for wear. You could drop a Tactical Nuke on this dude and he’d ask for another.

That sounds awesome, but just curious, do you play it on Xbox?

Nah, haven’t owned an Xbox since the 360. My big reason for staying with Xbox was Halo, and Halo hasn’t been good since Reach so I’ve had no reason to go back to Xbox.

I see, makes sense, but anyway has the combat update come out yet?

Not yet, think it comes out on the 30th IIRC.

Ok, I might get back into ESO.

Truely this has been a question asked since launch…like wtf! a sickly bunch of people who had no idea about how1st person shooters play like on controller. They are pobabably to same bunch of anonymous forum members who constant strain at making this game easier (hense the buff this nerf that shit).

Odd timing since most people are actually angry & probably putting the game down for a bit due to the Combat Update.

If I gat back into now before the update I’ll get to enjoy it before it turns into whatever, but I don’t know why their doing a update like that because it’ll limit game play.

The official statement of the changes to combat is “We wanna lower the perfomance gap between high-end & low-end players because it’s hard to balance DLC dungeons & expansions for both play groups.” It’s because new/bad players are literally too shit at playing DPS to effectively animation cancel & use weaving consistently. Despite the fact that endgame content & expansion trials were balanced around people being able to Weave for half a decade.

Instead of just sticking with how the game has been played since Launch, they have decided that it is better to dumb down the gameplay & handicap high-end Players.

The sad part is when you see they are grownups livestreaming…

Who knows… Maybe they are, maybe they are not…🤷🏻‍♂️
Whether if they are, or not, it is, unfortunately, what you are stuck with (frustrating I know).
I cannot remember that it has ever been different, and I have been around since launch (you are an “old timer” in the forum as well, if my memory serves me right?).
A long time ago someone wrote in the forum that this game has a player base with such a big difference in skill level that it makes it frustrating for either side of the fence. The design of the game does not do anything to mitigate it either.
I am no sniper material myself when it comes to locking down a pred player at long range, so I would be hypocritical to point fingers at those with a poor aim, but basics like following markers, simple stuff like “do not camp in death traps aka small buildings when faced with an alien with an AoE weapon outside”, or team work (implied in Fire TEAM) should be pretty doable. As Eshtion wrote: many are movie fans. So they are probably searching for some of the atmosphere from the movies in the game, and they end getting surprised by a bad high paced shooter.

That’s the sad truth for games now a days, if enough bad players don’t feel like trying to get better they keep complaining until the good players get handicapped to their level.

It’s frustrating because ESO actually has a pretty engaging combat system for an MMO. Having a focus on animation cancels was one of the main draws for me because that kinda shit is always fun to experiment with. It’s not a perfect system & can get repetitive WHEN you master the systems & have your Ability Bars fleshed out, but there’s at least an attempt currently to be more than stand in place & spam abilities. Which unfortunately it seems like the Combat Update is going to move the game towards.

Aka what I did when I first started😂, but I learned the system up to a point and can kill a person at least and that’s what people need to do learn the system.

This is why I prefer old games, where updates were released to address bugs and add content, nothing more. Balance was never an issue. Games were what they were and people just needed to deal with it.
