Wristblades need some attention

I don’t know if it’s just me, but they seem utterly useless. No range or tracking. I netted a guy and it took 3 separate nets to actually kill him with the blades. I’m pointed right at the guy and they just don’t connect. Maybe it was a lag issue, don’t know. But even in that net he could run and juke and avoid blows. Am I missing something here?

Edit: got it on video around the 10:15 mark https://youtu.be/clyWuX1H13U

Yea their range and track deff leave something to be desired. Your best bet is to not “combo” it. Attack once, move toward your target, attack again. Rinse and repeat. Any FT member with half a brain will move AWAY from the attacking Predator and if you try to combo, they’ll just move away from the second hit. The other weapons have similar issues but their tracking is better. I think it’s why so many use the combi stick is because it has such good range, it’s harder for the FT to back away from it.

I think one way they could help negate this is by reducing the movement speed of the FT. They move too fast as it is, but maybe slow them down briefly right after they’ve been hit so the follow up attacks have a chance to land instead of the FT member moving out of its range. Oh and to counter this as the FT, they could use Parry.

i could not agree more, even someone who plays FT alot, FT moves way to quickly have way too much stamina. i mean players are bunny hopping everywhere its ridiculous.

Yep.as stated, unless you can pin or trap them between something, take a swipe or two and then change position.

The third hit can be a bugger to connect with.

👍

They are free and activated “automatically” when needed. I do not think they are meant to be that great or even as good as the other options.

I still use them over all other melee currently though because they can be ready in a snap.

I knew this was an issue week 1, when it took me a couple laps around a compound as the Scout Predator to catch up to a damn Scout FT member. I was like, woah, this ain’t right haha.

My reply to predator melee. Take off tracking

I just want the Wrist-Blades to be equivalent to the FTs Knife for mechanics consistency and balancing. Also the Wrist-Blades are the signature weapon and the most honorable way to hunt. They deserve to be more intimidating than laughable.

Wristblades are in a good spot for single target damage and tracking is fine, just shorten the distance between yourself and the target if the 2nd swing is a near miss.
Walk in between swings if you’re having trouble landing swipes.

They’re not really meant to be used on full hp targets. The quick two initial hits are fine and plenty of damage, you don’t always have to commit to a full combo. They’re great considering you get them by default and you don’t blow through stamina using them.

If they aren’t meant to be then why have a game trophy for using only wrist blades on ps4 called traditionalist which requires 4 fireteam members with only wristblades

When they do less damage than the knife, that’s a problem. 🤷‍♀️

Why do you think that’s a trophy?

You’re able to use netgun/caster and wristblades at the same time even. They’re fast and they’re fine.

Every melee weapon only has tracking on the very first hit of the combo. After that the predator will move forward slightly after each hit depending on the weapon being used. It isn’t as apparent on the combi stick because it has such a large hit radius that the predator can continue hitting the FT as they back away. The best way to use the wrist blades is to do a 2 hit combo and then break away and repeat. The 1st hit will have tracking and the second hit is usually fast enough that it does not get avoided. The third hit should only be used if the FT member happens to be blocked by terrain or you’re behind them and their reaction is slow.

The third hit is almost always a liability in the open because the predator doesn’t move forward enough for the hit to connect as the FT member moves away. This keeps you stuck in place until the animation ends and you get shot.

Because it lieterally is on PS4

This I agree with being a bit counter intuitive, but I have to think that it is this way in the game purely for balance reasons.

It used to take 2 claw swipes to kill a pig, and one with a knife so it is in a much better place than it used to be.

I’ve circumvented this issue with replacing the Right Stick Click as the Sprint Button, instead of it being the Left Stick Click @Weevo540. I have a customized Dualshock 4 with extra Stick Tension. Trying to press in a Stick with extra Tension is harder than usual. For reference, a Stock Pad has about 60 Grams of Force. Mine has 130, making things smoother at higher Sensitivity.

My point?? A nice side effect of the Right Stick being my Sprint makes it easier to press while constantly moving. Therefore, I’ve found myself Attacking once followed by a Sprint, closing the distance, and then repeating.

Not too many Players realize that you stop Sprinting after you Melee. This way, you can always stay on top of someone who you’re engaging with.
