So I’m sure we have all seen that 90 percent of posts here are people complaining something is too strong. It’s always either, predator is too strong, or FT too strong. So on and so forth. This is not the issue. The problem this game suffers from is 0 competitive matchmaking. Skill levels are all over the place. My supporting evidence for this is other asymmetrical games that do have matchmaking. I cannot IMAGINE playing Dead By Daylight with 0 matchmaking involved it would be a NIGHTMARE for a lot of players. The game would feel soooo broken. In this game, if a player is slightly better than the ones you are used to, on either end, it feels infinitely harder. The difference between a good FT that lands all there shots, stays close watches each other’s backs, and one that just runs around using less than optimal guns and does not rally to teammates under attack, is massive. The difference between a predator that lobs some plasma down range then charges in with Combistick, and a predator who takes advantage of bear traps, knows where to use slams, brings an effective combo of weapons and knows how to use them, is massive. THIS is why we feel this game is so unbalanced. And before you say, “NICE TRY BUT NO THIS IS WHY ITS UNBALANCED” answer me this, why is it that we don’t agree on which side is strongest? Why do we have some say it’s Predator and some say it’s FT? Just something to think about
Your Grief is not from balance, it’s matchmaking
also a side note is, playing FT with people who are wayyyy worse than you makes this game infinitely frustrating as well. Matchmaking is the issue at hand
So what is your solution? Back to 45min quee to be matched with same skill level? I’d rather stomp and get stomped for 4 min quee time’s sake. There’s not enough dudes to separate them into groups, and also keep quee times low.
Never said that. My point is the game is not unbalanced skill levels are just all over the place. Cause I don’t know about you but when the only topic of conversation ever is people complaining on both sides about things being too strong it gets old
Well we’re in quarantine, most have nothing to do but complain lol. Tho I do agree, the problem is skill. You can have a pred with same gear get rekt or one that will stomp you. 99.9% get rekt tho. The Pred average players is just so bad, I can’t imagine complaining aboit pred being OP when it gets awfully boring when you constantly win against the predator.
They also gota tweak the game, it feels awfully static. And the AI is horrendous. It’s just so non emersive.
Yeah trust me though we have plenty of people saying predator OP. Meanwhile like you said the vast majority of people playing predator have 0 clue what’s going on and you rinse them. Which sucks cause that’s not very fun
I agree up to a certain point for sure. But once you get into the good fireteam levels, it starts to actually show that the reason the game is so unbalanced is because if you learn how to abuse its mechanics. (Sound, spotting, parrying, the more op fireteam weapons, etc) its downright oppressive. So yes skill is a factor 100% but its not the only issue.
If there were 0 workarounds for these things I’d agree completely. But parrying can be countered, and spotting, well spotting has its moments of being very strong. Like when you wanna close in and they just spot spam you outa the trees. But if you spot me while I’m about to engage anyways, well… I mean as a ft player I know where the predator is anyways and I’m already shooting him. Whether he’s outlined or not doesn’t really matter at that point
IMHO its a bit of both not just one or the other.
Well what makes me think it’s primarily skill based is there are predators that never lose. Even against these bonkers Fireteams. So maybe if those teams beat you, you just aren’t on the level quite yet to defeat those teams. And I should mention it’s definitely easier to be good at FT than predator I mean we’ve all been playing FPS games since we were 8
A lot of the disagreement I think comes from people not coming to terms on what this game is supposed to be.
You get a lot of people who watched a trailer or see the title of this game and think, wow, I get to be a super bad ass extremely powerful predator!
Then you get a few who are all, oooh shit we get to fight predator with bad ass soldiers like in the movies.
Theres also those who wanna play with friends, and dont ever play solo, and all they get is ft.
So because of stuff like that, you get a lot of arguments. A few people actually try to come to compromises, I know I try to at least, but given the nature of the game, its extremely difficult to balance.
The main point I’m trying to make is, I believe we need to get everyone on the same page as as to what this game is supposed to be, and take it from there.
While I think skill matchmaking might help, how the hell would we properly measure skill? I talked to somebody before about this, and we couldn’t really come up with a way to gauge skill level.
It was a discussion on a ranked mode in this game.
Also as far as ft goes how would you gauge it? Accuracy of shots fired at pred?
Cause right now this does feel like a team deathmatch instead of actually hunting as predator.
Which is fine. The avp type games looked pretty cool.
So which one is it?
Is it supposed to be a even deathmatch, or is pred supposed to have a clear advantage?
Or is it supposed to be a more stealth focused game for both sides?
Those are really the only 3 options I can see. If we can get everyone on the same page, which is most likely not going to happen, I believe a lot of complains will stop.
I think after that then we can try to balance based off a better general consensus.
I would like a ranked mode if I’m honest, but I see no way to gauge it.
Idk just my thoughts.
Yeah parrying doesnt bother me much anymore. And you are correct, spotting isnt an issue. In fact none of them are. The problem is, a decent player, with these tools that are meant to help not so good players, can use them to gain such an advantage that its hard for pred to do anything. He has to commit to an all out fight, because if he tries to escape (assuming he cant find a good building or rock or something that ft cantt get on, hes gonna get chased. he cant heal because the FT will either chase or push objectives too fast. Its just meh. My biggest issue, is the sound. pred being so easily audible is probably the thing that makes the game really difficult against good players.
Yes, I agree completely.
The ideas of what the game is supposed to be is pretty damn fractured right now across the community.
And worse yet I think thats why the game is in such a shitty state to begin with. I dont even think the devs know what kind of game they want to make.
The irony is that the title says all you should need to know.
This is a predator game, and this is his hunting ground.
This isnt mortal kombat 15 featuring pred tag teaming a 4 man fireteam. It shouldnt be.
This certainly isnt a game where the FT should feel they have anything to gain at all by chasing predator unless hes second winded. (And even when he is, it should be a bitch to catch up to him.)
This should be about surviving the hunt. which is what literally every predator movie short of the very last one (which might as well not even exist because its universally looked down upon) Basically is.
Its a hunt, and you gotta survive. You dont do it by fighting head on. You might take him with you, but more than likely youll end up like billie. You do it by fighting smarter, not harder. Its just kinda sad because as much as I hate to say it. I think that crossplay, completely fucks this game up. because it feels the need to be balanced for both PC and playstation. But it does a piss poor job at both.
at least thats my opinion.
Well a ranked would be based off wins, win go up lose go down, but we can’t actually do that cause wait times would be bonkers
Yeah strong players know exactly how to use these mechanics perfectly no doubt. And sound is definitely a huge part of it. You should not be able to pin point him off of his chirping when he has not even engaged yet. I’m on with the sound of healing because if you are boosted enough to heal ground level you should be punished
Could also be based off of XP gained per match to some extent.
Yeah that as well, but that would lead to farming people lol. And bots and such
True
Idk I look at based off wins being a better system for fighting games. Or anything that’s 1v1.
But when teams come into the equation, it’s hard to say based off numbers. Someone could get Carried.
So idk. But like I said, I would like a ranked mode.
