2020 Presidential Election

Yeah but I hate lays and ketchup. Only thing ketchup is good on is meatloaf and Baconeggncheesehardrollsaltpepperketchup

@Slasher_Clone

Hereā€™s the latest conspiracy from someone claiming to be involved in your government

Thanks, Iā€™ll check it out after work.

Yeah, those happen every year for as long as I can remember and their big solution is to pick up dry twigs in the forest. Like cut wide paths throughout so fire worst spread easily. And especially isolate the places where people live.

Same thing for hurricanes. Their only solution is, ā€˜well just brace ourselvesā€™. Usa makes so many weapons. Is it that hard to make some atmospheric bomb that will disrup the weather conditions causing hurricane to die down?

Global deforestation is probably the biggest culprit

Trees do so much for the planet

Trees FTW.

Especially those trees hanging in my closet like skinned Predator trophies.

If every person on the planet just planted one of those at the same timeā€¦

I get to flower 6 at a time and have 12 in vegetation. CA is good for something.

Those trees are burning every year. I think itā€™s idiotic to get doing the same thing every year and expecting things to get better after so many failures

Theyā€™re burning because there arenā€™t enough of them

Trees cool the planet and clean the air

Removing the trees and oil from the planet was humankinds biggest mistake

That does make sense actually. Iā€™m not denying the human-made global warming is significant, but itā€™s still possible that itā€™s also caused by current climate patterns that are outside of human control.
Iā€™m sure that forest were burning just like this thousands of years ago and eventually that phase passed and everyone was stable. If the wonā€™t cut the trees, then relocate the people.

So Blood is kinda right about cutting the trees down having an effect at least in Cali. There used to be a lot more aquifers, under where the trees were, keeping the soil damper. This slowed the spread of those fires.

Forest fires unfortunately are part of the ecosystem, the number and size has increased as the human interaction has changed the environment. Again in Cali, not necessarily true elsewhere.
When it was in a different state before our interactions there, it seemed to take turns burning through areas of old growth but naturally stopping or dying down. Then the next area would burn the next time fires broke out.

Redwoods actually need the fires, just to activate the seeds, so they can grow. Teaching people to be safer is the best solution, itā€™s that or move the people out of there, because itā€™s going to burn sometimes regardless.

Hurricanes are also effected by the forests of the world. It takes forests the size of the Amazon or Congo for us to be able to see itā€™s effect though. (Fun fact, the Sahara desert used to have a rainforest over the north western area, but the Romans cut it down to build boats. Once the deserts started expanding there was nothing they could do to stop it and the Sahara grew to the size it is today.)

The natives would do controlled burns and the valley was filled with oak trees. The environment is a reflection of our mind as a species. Greed is what causes climate change (for the worst). As change is inevitableā€¦ but it can be for good or ill. The choice is ours.

Gotcha. Thanks for the explanation. Then people have to relocate

That actually would be the best solution for the coast, very unlikely thoughā€¦ and you are welcome.

@NeonPred, the natives in Cali did live well with it, but they knew to get out of the fires way. Theyā€™d move when it was time, and come back when the danger was passed. Wish more of the culture had survived the Spanish and the the settlers.

Donā€™t worry about Cali to much, a new Nash equilibrium will be established in our life times. Unless you have property on the coast, then you might want to worry.

The fires could be fought more effectively but thatā€™s a different discussion and comes down to money.

I wonder if they could use something like giant fans as a form of recyclable energy (wind) to cool down the forests, or at least to not keep them dry by moving air through

You should see the Woodstock documentary . Some hippies are saying planes flew over the area and it started raining. Govs been controlling the weather since the 60s at least. In Dubai I hear they make it rain once a week by seeding the clouds with potassium and silver iodide.

I could believe that

In the end all governments will fall

Yeah, thatā€™s why we started scraping them after 4 years and trying to do better. An informed public is supposed to keep us moving in the direction of progress but unfortunately weā€™ve never quite managed to get oneā€¦ an informed public that is.
