About balance

The more I play Pred the more I am convinced the game isn’t as unbalanced as some people claim it is.

I still think FT damage at distance needs to be reduced, but other than that, I honestly don’t see any balance issues. I’ve been playing pred for little over a month. Played a few matches today 3v1 against some of my friends who are some of the best players out there. I had absolutely no hope on winning and I still won one match out of two. Both matches were though for me and them. A week or two ago I could not take on a single one of them. Now I am able to put up a fight against 2 or 3.

I guess in the end is just a matter of “git gud”

ok i get it but the game is intended for 4v1 though not 3v1

and i don’t think it’s fair that of the roster of say 15 weapons for the predator

only 3 of them are viable
and only 2 gear items
and only 3-4 classes

where the FT has considerably more options at least 2x in all of these catagories including classes when you weign in specializations

i don’t see the issue of FT being too poweful i see the issue of as the predator i only have 2 viable strategies
i don’t care how they adjust the numbers as it is right now they can’t they have to allow the worst players in the game to have a chance against any predator so i want more things i can do
whether they add
new pieces of gear
new ranged weapons
or new abilities (think actives not passives) for predator classes to better specialize their way of hunting
whether it’s new vision modes the ability to grapple FT members or to be able to throw all melee weapons just to name a few things they could do

I think the last 2 balance update really hit the mark, give or take a few hit points.
What really needs to be worked on is the melee mechanics in general for predator, MORE RANGED OPTIONS, bug fixes, more game modes/maps(I know they’re coming), some quality of life enhancements, and fine tweaking of the gameplay mechanics.

oh on that we agree, but I was talking more of how some how some people continue to claim is impossible to win against a good FT. I mean… If I being a noobie could put pressure of them, I don’t see how in a few months I won’t be able to beat them eventually.

i mean yeah i wouldn’t say it’s impossible either

i would simply say it requires an amount of effort that is unreasonable or just simply not fun

it’s why i stopped playing the game as much as a used to once i breached a certain skill ceiling where the only challenges left where the top of the mountain and i played them for a while i decided it’s just not fun to play this way

Agreed. It’s a slog playing a good team. Pred just doesn’t have the damage output necessary.

I think pred can pressure really well and waste time instead of going for outright kills/claims. If enough time is wasted, FT will get desperate (on longer missions) and may have to separate. After that it’s preds game. Getting there may not be fun though

It’s the game if take whatever FT gives you. Initially just prod them and see how they respond. If they separate then it’s safer to go in for the kills. If they don’t, then maintain a threating presence and deter them from doing the mission as long as possible. Eventually time should be on your side for the win. If FT gets desperate and separated, then pred can get claims/kills as well

Now, I think this is all well and good, but my problem is with how IllFonic tries to rebalance the game.

IllFonic continually buffs Predator health as a form of buff, but they really should not. Instead they should keep FT DPS the same and Pred health the same, but increase pred DPS.

This would allow for the FT to punish a Pred for claiming etc, but it would also give Pred a chance against a good team through hit and run tactics.

Keeping FT dps high while also increasing Pred dps but not health will also ensure that the average match is not finished in 3 minutes because 1 side wipes the other.

Another approach will be to have gradual buffs for both FT and Pred:

FT: Start our with reduced dps, once 1 is claimed DPS goes up to slightly below where it is now, once 2 are claimed DPS goes up more, and in LMS damage is greatly increased and parries are easier to do.

Pred: Armor already exists in the form of the more health you loose the more damage reduction you get. I think that a new mechanic would be Fury, where the lower health goes the more damage you do.

Just 2 different balancing ideas that should make the game finally balanced. Of course once it is implemented both will need fine tuning, but I think that if added balancing would be much better than it is now.

I think they want to extend the length if the match and not have pred rushing in for a quick kill. The goal is to wear FT out, get them desperate by wasting time, force the into mistakes and to separate

Realistically though if IllFonic wants that to happen they should greatly increase mission time, as a decent team can exfill within 5 minutes, which I think is why a lot of preds rush and don’t play stealthy for the most part.

Its the balancing issue when claiming skulls it allows fireteam to drop predator in less than 2 seconds trying to claim a skull even with dmg reducing perks the problem is with 4 fireteam members with stupid dmg will kill pred every time you need to make it fair enough since it already 4 on 1 with not 1 but 2 ways of reviving reduce the dmg enough to make ft still fun but not a 30 second match for a pred for claiming a skull after a 9 to 15 Minute wait time.

Maybe a small change in pred dps can be made, but for the most part were already there

Thsys good though. If pred can get away claiming one when there are 4 FTs around, then the match rolls downhill for him from there. It should be tough and lead to SW if done incorrectly. I think that’s good balance

It’s definitely beyond git gud. You are saying this cause you are playing pub randoms. We will all kill every group of pub randoms. That’s not the issue. Ft damage for certain weapons is clearly busted. The specializations are clearly busted. Parrying is clearly busted. Fix these issues and we have something much closer to actual balance. But if you wanna balance around playing 4 kids not communicating, running around screaming. Then yes the game is fine

This would help a lot. The base damage on the sawz50 would still need to be reduced, in my opinion.

As far as melee, the elder sword, katana, alpha sickle, and combistick are good, just buff the rest slightly.

Yes you’re not the only one to beat a full team of good players.
I’m pretty sure quite a bit of us here have.

But that’s an exception.
You can’t balance of any skill level. You have to balance the game itself.
And too many of you are unable to do that.

The main issue has been for a while now, if a single Team faction player can severely injure the solo faction single handedly, then it becomes extremely unfair and unbalanced for the solo faction when you multiple the damage.

I mean this is just common sense, but you know the saying…
Common sense ain’t common.

The majority Of you are blind to this lol.

But the shitty state of balance, bugs, stiff/clunky controls are the reason this game Hasnt really kept alot of ppl whove tried it playing it.

There are better games out there.
