About breaking out of the net extremely fast

On Consoles they have controllers with remapable paddles. These type of controllers are not considered cheating and are allowed in competitive gameplay. One can simply map two paddles to the same button (interact) and break from the net almost instantly.

On PC we have two commands named Jump/Interact and another for Interact. One can simply map two adjacent keys to these two commands and alternate super fast between them, getting you out of the net almost instantly.

Is this cheating? No. No one is altering any kind of game files or using third party software to hack the game, which is what officially is considered cheating. Is this an exploit? Maybe, depends on opinion more than anything.

One simple solution is for the developers to eliminate the ā€œmini-gameā€ and simply put a timer to get out of the net.

This, as much as holding a button to accomplish something sucks it eliminates advantage that shouldnā€™t be there.

Hold Square get free simple.

Instead of timer, the amount of time in a net should be determined by current HP. The lower the HP, the longer youā€™re netted.

Percentage based, so weaker classes escape faster than stronge?

I think it should be based on the percentage of HP they currently have regardless of class. So if youā€™re low on HP your gonna struggle more compared to half/full HP.

Maybe, wish we had access to test serverā€™s.

My preference is:

Much longer net duration.
However net is broken (or the timer significantly reduced*) when you are attacked by the Predator.
*You could consider the net ā€˜timerā€™ like a HP bar.
Ie. Give the net 50HP, and when the Predator attacks, the net takes the same damage as the Predator inflicts to the netted player.

This should turn the net from a ā€œ1v1 disableā€ weapon, to a support\utility option. (Which I feel much better suits its gameplay mechanic as well as itā€™s lore).
You disable enemies OTHER than the one you plan to attack.

I like this quite a bit, still think the holding option could work with it.

Yeah i like this discussion. Please level out the playing field so that either controller/kbmouse will essentially utilize the same type of mechanic without one having any advantage over the other.

I think they would work perfectly well together. Iā€™d also prefer a ā€œholdā€ method vs the current ā€œtapā€ method.

Iā€™d be even fine with you not having to do anything. The timer just instantly starts decaying.
I kinda get why they want it to be an ā€œinteractā€ mechanic, but I donā€™t think itā€™s really necessary.

Id prefer holdā€¦i really think tapping is an annoying mechanism. plus save our controllers from going to shit.

Do you know how much pro controllers cost and why most gamers dont use them?

Not sure that really has much do to with the argument. :)

I already broke one of mines. The interact button is now funky. Lol

Costs around the same price of a new game with bonus content. So, whatā€™s the big deal?

I have an Astro C40 TR trust me you donā€™t need them its just nice to have, it makes certain games easier with the paddles.

Yeah, the mash mechanic is dumb. I use the net knowing its cc for a few seconds max. I try to time it so I can net 3 people, kill and claim and hop out. Then come back later. They should just hold down a button and get out in a few seconds and a good pred will have to do the math on it.

THERE IS A TIMMERā€¦ look at patch notesā€¦ no matter how fast you tap it still takes about 3-4sec

yeah, they fixed a ton of shit in the last patch. Says it right there in the patch notesā€¦LMFAO

Illfonicā€™s patch notes arenā€™t exactly the most detailed piece of craftsmanship. :P
