Not every metal drummer uses triggers

As an audio engineer I can tell you almost every metal album recorded today uses sampled drums, whether they are sampled from another kit or sampled from the kit the drummer is actually using. The triggers may be physical or may be added in post production using waveform transients, but they are still used in every album today. Whoever says they do not use it, is flat out lying or didn’t even take part during the mixing. Artists most of the time have no idea of what happens in the mixing room.

Okay bud

What was the last metal album you engineered?

Severe Mutilation - Spawn of Hatred

Not a bad album

Still not every metal band is using triggers and not recording their drums

Granted it is more popular especially in the newer genres with insanely fast blast beats

How many albums have you engineered? That’s right. Shut up

No you

Not every band uses triggers bud

Sorry

Music has relatively sucked since the 90s anyway.

Bet you think Iron Maiden is the sheet

Not my absolute favorite but they’re good. More of a blues guy myself

there, fixed

I live in Austin, Texas. Before covid went almost to every “big” metal concert around here and San Antonio. Aside from the usual unknown local opening act, all other bands used triggers at least on their bass drum.

Even in Generation Axe, even on G3… is not exclusive to death metal or any of that. Is just better for sound reinforcement. Unless you want your kick drum to be buried under the mix cause if you bump the volume you will get hell of feedback

I’m more of a Cotton eye joe gregorian chant nightcore hardcore dubstep remix kinda guy

fuck Iron Maiden

You sit that ass down in a Cadillac with some R.L. Burnside you’ll know what I’m talking about
