you know i dunno. Its not like everything written has back matter, then when there is back matter you have franchises, and whenever they do something woke it because the central thing people will talk about and likely hate afterwards. Not with Alien Earth though, they kind of went under the radar with casting, and went with credible practical effects companies, …they went to asia to film.
There really isn’t anything politically driven about this. they also knodded to old literature which is always a plus…not like David and his “Ozymandias” references.
Its just a sci-fi, compelling fiction with a budget that hired lots of good talent.
oh, and somebody said they thought that the show was all about fancy hair and couldn’t get past that so he wrote a bad review. that new asshole from avpgalaxy said that.
I can answer that. The turnover rate isn’t fast enough. The new thing comes out, everyone cheers for the stream of shit because the set design looks so good or some other banal point people can hold onto, defend it against attempts to get them to use their brain, and Disney (Or whoever is working on this shitty project) sees the glowing reviews and then make another season or another project using the same stuff because of the applause it garnered. Then, as that new thing is being made, people look back and realize that it wasn’t actually good, and by that point discourse around it has ended and they’ll point out their frustrations to no one and then forget the show. But by that time, another show has come out to repeat the process and people aren’t picking up on the pattern and keep repeating it.
Kind of like that atrocitous show called From where they just did exactly what Lost did only grab alot of viewers and people like you think they should have figured that out decades ago and should have cancelled that show from ever happening because you think televsion is such a droll form of entertainment that we shouldnt be force fed.
Lol i guess an easy way to cut through all the reasons why its bad ill pose a question.
So im sure many of us here being fans of both alien and predator, many have said which movie they find themselves rewatching some of the earlier ones, watching one more than another and some being the least rewatchable. That being said do you rewatch any of the newer disney (and disney because they own the rights they have the last say so, not producers, directors, etc.) Alien or predator movies/shows or do you still watch some of the older ones?
Idk about anyone else but out of predator i find myself watching p2 or predators and alien is either aliens or alien resurrection (as a guilty pleasure)
Tried rewatching the newer ones but its night and day as far as acting, how much your drawn in. Hard to explain, but another way to say it is if one day im flippin through channels and say prey, killers, romulus, or earth is on, i might watch but would get easily side tracked doin somethin or flipping to see what else is on. Now if any of the older ones are on (except alien 3 or predator 2018) im watchin em through with out switching to somethin else.
Sure maybe its because ive said alien and predator are my favorite IP, but lets do it with another movie if mummy or mummy returns im watchin but if say tom cruises mummy is on im flipping. Thats the best why i can put it to try and get it across. Some ppl may like the newer stuff but you hold them up side by side with aby older ones they dont have that it factor at least to me.
saying that is a weird way a putting how you position old films. They arent and shouldn’t be referred to that way. Its like saying they ain’t sexy any more.
Because even though they own the property and the way to market them today, they have no say on the films structure at the time of release and in the way they release them as a whole film.
They WONT be doing “THE DISNEY CUT” and demonitize the Directors Cut.
They won’t edit it the way they did on TV with alternative and crappy overdubs (which is interesting to where they belong to in the realm of product).
Remember when Diehard films were redubbed for TV? "Yippy Kayee Mother trucker " was a thing.
I kind of wish they made TShirts of that.
You need to be more specific about what they plan on doing with what you just said. Otherwise you have really sound like you’ve gotten a bad taste in your mouth about the whole thing. aand you aren’t expressing the ultimate goal of what you just said.
Its like you want to say “ridley” has no more say over the films he made and Disney will edit it to shit until we are ultimately viewing a whole new movie on Disney +.
I don’t want to get into the whole thing of what Disney had in terms of production involvement but they don’t write any of the shit. They only see that it gets funded, and produced at the right costs.
Disney is not Gatekeeping the creative only the costs/distribution/sourcing out work etc.
At the same time, Alien was never an underground snuff film. And it was never actually Texas Chainsaw Massacre or Hellraise or Event Horizon or Natural Born Killers. They sold Alien Kenner toys.
Its basically Godzilla.
That said, i don’t think any new films in the franchises will hold the mystery as the first one or the bold attempts at sympathizing with the characters. MAybe they will maybe they won’t.
There is only a few years that young casts will storm the playground but i mean, most of the earlier films were just trying to stay current with main stream films. Thats a given.
the 80s were a different time.
Its really a matter of the director who is chosen.
very rarely does a McG gets to make a Nolanesque film with a franchise and make Terminator Salvation.
I just hope we get something like that too with Predator and Alien. Maybe Alien Earth is that! And Predator Badlands is that too!
in my opinion, the finale was bad. wendy pulls the pocket xenomorph out and uses it to stick all the humans (except hermit) in a cell, and ends with the line of “we rule.” hence setting the stage for season 2.
I’m glad that the eyeball monster managed to escape though, just wish we could’ve seen a bit more action from it instead of just watching it unsuccessfully try take control hermit, and then slither off to screw around with the body of the chestburster victim.
I guess we now know what the ceiling plant alien thing does. it can crawl around, and eats people by enveloping them and eating their skin(?)
this series was gonna be a hit or miss. in the beginning, it was a hit. after we figured out that Wendy can control the xenos, everything went downhill and the plot of the finale could be predicted 1000 miles away.
that whole controlling the xenos thing is just stupid, and another example of bad writing. when Wendy first “heard” the xenomorphs, it was apparently only yelling in pain. now all of a sudden, not only does she know what those screams of pain translate to, but she knows the entire xenomorph fucking language. it just doesn’t add up. but then again, wasn’t really expecting anything better from Disney.
Alien: Earth (season 1, at least) gets a 3-star rating from me. the people on rotten tomatoes giving it higher ratings compared to the first two movies need to undergo psychic evaluation, cuz they clearly ain’t thinking right.
I like ridley but cmon, ridley simped for that disney paycheck when he produced romulus and claimed it was awsome and all that, but lets be honest that was not what PR made it out to be (which is the formula now just to sell you on buying a ticket), this is comin from someone who was excited through out the build up then once released realized i been had.
As far as what disneys goal is, all you gotta do is look at the formula they use now which is a failing one but they continue to do it anyway. Theres not really a word besides “woke” to get the point across and i hate using that because ppl immediately jump to political sides on it when its as simple as it just sucks ass whether your lookin at casting, writing, structure, plot points, fillers, etc.
When i say woke ppl will think “oh you dont like ppl of color in roles, oh you hate that a guy is lgbtq, or oh you cant stand a strong woman, etc” not providing any context like for example ppl of color, nobody gives a fk if a person not white is a lead role or what ever its only a problem when your race swapping an established character, or the lgbtq thing seems to be highlighted to where its pointless because someones sexuality doesnt really have to do with a persons role (depending what movie your watchin) so that seems deliberate and lazy. Idk to me alot of this is obvious if you hold most new movies side by side to classics or movies pre this era, and you slcan see the bvious shortcomings in all departments.
so you generally don’t like to talk to real people about movies without getting a large slap in the face from people who are generally positive. which is generally most people? There are things in real life that you generally don’t say in public. Like blurting out racist remarks. Unless you’re the AuTism.
of course not. I think its pretty obvious that it doesn’t. Im suprised yo regcognize any. thought you were the age of a dookie! Who likes only Taylor Swhift.
I think it was ok. Instead of Yutani controlling xenos in some way, we have this. Maybe it’s stupid, but same conclusion. The kids will be a new power once they take care of Yutani’s forces in episode 1/2 of season 2. Yutani will steal an egg though and we’ll have xeno wars until xenos decide to take over.
