Alien Vs. Predator Hunting Grounds

Skinning and hanging people means they’re worthless as a trophy. If xeno’s exist on earth then there’s 0 reason to be hunting humans or anything else when you have the greatest prey in the universe right next door in an underground safari and your culture is “hunting the most dangerous thing in the galaxy oh but dont kill innocents btw feel free to slaughter those armed civilians on that metro.” Every other pred we’ve seen including ones speculated by shitty movie writers to be from “their home planet” have plasma casters, none of them have blooded markings. Skulls are an easter egg. And the time period is so skewed to begin with that “predator lore” would just become AvP lore meanwhile Alien gets to be its own standalone series. I like AvP, but what’s wrong with Predator being its own franchise independent of the AvP universe that’s all over the place? (AvP universe has 0 damn rules, its either a thousand years in the future with colonial marines or in a modern time period that directly clashes with the current Predator timeline via doing shit like unleashing xenomorphs on Colorado prior to nuking it. Its a mess which is exactly why they stick to standalone stories.)

Let’s handle Plasma casters first, each clan has their own gun safety rules or challenges that must be completed. Obviously we’ve only ever seen Predators who have a gun licence.
Markings, could be a family tradition for all we know. That’s the beautiful thing about illfonic having control of canon. They can fix things not by retconning them but by showing us more.

Again, I don’t really want to have an argument about they only hunt the strongest, it’s weaker than the other argument. A big game hunter wants to bag all the big game, not just the bear. He wants a tiger claws, and a lion skull. Sharks teeth and a cheetah’s pelvic bone. You hunt things that are weaker, prey animals that can fight back, then you hunt predators, then you hunt men that can think and reason. It’s a chain and every step is about learning and becoming better. You don’t start a pro or master at anything, it takes years (or centuries in their case) of practice.

Last point, Alien gets to be its own universe, yes it does.

Predators need prey. If they only hunted us, rather than it being rare, we’d be dead. Most of them don’t give a shit about us. They don’t have the patients to hunt down a worthy one. Earth game is mostly low tier trophies, our animals are collected because they are unique not dangerous.
The meta (as in transcending) reason is that Alien is it’s own property and Predator licensed it to expand, yes this was triggered by an Easter egg but it happened and is now part of the story.

The two AVP movies are part of the main Predator canon, the games and comics that take place in the future are expanded universe stuff not necessarily canon. Only the two movies are relevant to the discussion.

Too bad that’s not the case and we’ve had 4 predator movies, none of which have aliens in them and everything is fine. It’s almost like there’s no need to parasite off of another universe that doesn’t even acknowledge predator on some weird one way street reboot that would just confuse people and make no sense beyond comic logic. Before I forget, I guarantee the little bird skull necklaces aren’t their primary prey. They don’t travel lightyears to shoot birds with plasma casters, exoticness is null compared to challenge.
On topic, Do you consider Freddy vs Jason canon because it happened?
Did they nuke Colorado in the predator universe because of an easter egg? They mentioned every other recorded encounter with a pred like a big deal because arnie’s squad died but OH NO NOT THE XENOMORPHS AND NUKING OF COLORADO WE FORGOT ABOUT THAT ONE WOOPS LETS INVITE OUR WEYLAND YUTANI ASSOCIATE IN BECAUSE WEYLAND ANCESTOR OR WHATEVER IN AVP1 OWNS STARGAZER oh wait that doesnt exist. Avp1 and 2 were cashgrabs spawned off of an easter egg, not everything has to be a cinematic universe. You’re inserting one franchise into another because of a spinoff series even though it has no right to be there by its own movie’s logic. Imagine if Marvel opened up with “Oh yeah iron man is canon to avengers but avengers is not canon to iron man” you get convulted nonsense because you’re trying to merge universes where there isn’t one. You have a higher chance of terminator dropping into a pred movie tbh atleast he can time travel and explain cheesy shit like predators fighting engineers & their pyramids that have been on the earth for a hundred billion years.

I feel like they are canon movie wise.

That looks an awful lot like a Xeno tail spear… mmmmm.

Oh no not another trophy case because what should be a nod to another franchise is interpreted as xenomorphs running around in 2014

There was even a skull in p2! Must be canon. Like the batman symbol in Watchmen.

LOL thats great

CASE CLOSED!!!

Rather bust that case open and go hunt a Pred with it.

As for the alien skull in Predator 2, that wasn’t put in the trophy room to make some sort of revelation that the aliens already exist, it was put in as an easter egg because Fox owns both movies and Stan Winston worked of both of them. On the Predator 2 cut, he even says it’s not meant to imply aliens exist in the same timeline, that’s why the skull is white and not black exoskeleton, it was only done as a cool nod to Aliens. As for Shane Black I didnt buy the directors cut for that trash heap but if he said avp was canon somewhere, colorado is an irradiated hole in the ground, and stargazer’s hunting xenomorphs and autism go for it.

Oh and lets talk about pulse rifles vs aliens and the lack thereof while we’re at it. That’ll be fun.

If we’re going by chronological dates IMO, we can include other movies such as Blade Runner, Soldier Firefly but then it would get confusing lol:

Predator
Predator 2
Alien vs Predator
Alien vs Predator Requiem
The Predator
Predators
Prometheus
Alien Covenant
Alien
Aliens
Alien 3
Alien Resurrection

This makes the most sense movie canon wise, take it with a grain of salt.

Not necessarily, it was a very low yield bomb. The helicopter survived the blast if not the EMP. It could have been as low as 20% of the bombs total yield, American nukes can be variable in their destructive power, the theory is you can nuke a military target right outside a populated area and not kill as many civilians.
It was a fighter dropped nuke, so a very little bomb all things considered. It seems as if that town was also surrounded by mountains. So the blast wouldn’t have travelled.

It would make one hell of a map, damage over time in some areas. Predator is immune but FT are on the clock. Get in and get out before you take to many rads. Great place to have a mountain headquarters too, you know at least on flank has good coverage.

I think anything that makes this game grow and last long I’m all for it feels kinda like a personal vendetta with these people not wanting alien in the game almost like they have a personal grudge over the 2 Movies not being very good or something I can’t prove it but why would you wanna deny any new modes or maps at this point almost like they like the game the way it is right now and dont get me wrong I like the game and where its at I just think if alien was to show up for a mode it would create alot of hype for the game add new players get the ball rolling but alas ill never change they’re mind and they’ll never change mine so we can just agree to disagree

Right and a low yield bomb killed all the aliens? “Nuke it from orbit” colony destroying aliens? Pick one. Sure it wasn’t just a low yield movie?

Killing aliens with m16s?
???
What is this canon to, exactly? The movies are the absolute worst incarnation of avp to refer to as a source material. They’re spinoffs.

Ithaca Model 37

“I like to keep this handy, for close encounters.”

Do you recognize the line, it’s from Aliens. It’s in reference to a shotgun that was a family heirloom, it killed Xeno’s fine. They’re not bullet proof, just resistant. They have armour but also weak points.

As in buckshot literally in the aliens mouth if that even killed it considering the alien @ the elevator was fine getting dinged in the head.

Who tf needs colonial marines when you have a couple of teenagers running around firing 5.56 containing an xeno infestation lmao. Just a bad movie with no foresight, plain and simple for fun schlock.

Well, you asked and I answered. I think the FT has weapons that can handle it, and I’m up for the challenge. I even mentioned in a different thread how I’d have to rethink my guns if there were Xeno’s, maybe perks and gear too.

Hicks is a bit slow, he should have been kneecapping them.

I’m looking for fun in the hunting grounds too, sounds great man.

I feel I need to answer this one cause yes a small one killed the aliens, it’s still a freaking nuke, but it didn’t wreck the state. Do you have any idea how many nukes have been set off for testing in the Nevada test range?

Here I just checked…
How many nuclear tests were conducted in the US?

The United States conducted around 1,054 nuclear tests by official count, including 216 atmospheric, underwater, and space tests. Most of the tests took place at the Nevada Test Site (NNSS/NTS) and the Pacific Proving Grounds in the Marshall Islands and off Kiritimati Island in the Pacific, plus three in the Atlantic Ocean.

Some of those bombs were huge, and didn’t wreck a state. So yeah, I think a small nuke, bump that number up too 1055.

I’m gonna counter your point by just saying no that’s just asking way too much of my sense of disbelief, we’re talking about bioweapons that exist to instant ramen colonies in a day & its a bad movie by its own logic and definitely not an alien movie by any means. Saying predator can’t exist as its own thing without piggybacking off a v dishonest interpretation of aliens, to a point where the aliens franchise outright rejects it & being 100s of years in the future anyway is pretty sad. Hardly fighting the iconic alien at all if you go by the two avp movies.
The movies are the WORST intepretation colonial marines don’t exist, the games are isolated stories, the comics are isolated stories.
