DMC community’s attitude towards the reboot is that many fans don’t consider it a poorly-designed game. In fact, many fans give credit to the title for spinning off from established the DMC combat formula in a unique way. Though there are certain complaints among fans, like how the game originally ran on 30FPS, the lack of a lock-on function, and the presence of color-coded enemies that limited combo variety, it succeeds in giving players an intuitive and inviting moveset to play around with. Many of these criticisms were eventually remedied in the DmC: Devil May Cry Special Edition re-release
