Balance in P:HG 2.20

Balance – THE MAGIC WORD

But what exactly do we mean by that? What exactly do we want when we say “this game needs better balance”? Can anyone give a straight forward answer to the question?

Do we mean better weapons/perks for Pred, so he can better fight PC death squads? Or different gameplay mechanics that would change the pace of the game… ah yes – pace of the game.

I’m getting the feeling most of you scream “balance please!” quz you feel that this game is a fast pace shit show, rather than stalking, stealthy hunt depicted in movies and comic books.

Let me brake it down to you – PREDATOR : HUNTING GROUNDS was designed, and essentially is from the bottom of its core, a fast pace arcade shooter – not a hunting simulator. As much as myself and many others hate it(quz when the game was announced we were expecting exactly that – a stealth hunt experience), those are the sad facts. And for what it was build to be – its pretty well balanced imho. In asymmetrical arced shooter you must have both sides to be more or less equal. This is what we, more or less, have just now.

You don’t believe me? Start playing hybrid.

And before you will shout “PC Russian death squads!!!” – I was on those squads (shockingly, not all are Russians there ;-)) against preds that would take us all out within minutes… It’s a matter of skill I’m afraid. You can’t balance around that when you have thousands or players with different level of skill playing the game.

My only issue with “balance” is how certain pred builds can 1 tap FT members who have 150 health. 1 shot mechanics shouldn’t exist in games (unless they have an extremely high risk/reward, you fuck up you die), and at the same time I think FT damage should be reduced a bit (coming from FT main).

From my experience I cant speak for anybody but myself , but balance in a sense is the game feels like it isn’t balanced as 4v1 .

The damage should be higher when the four members are together , but realistically one scout can fuck you up , it isn’t easy to balance either I would admit and if you run in like a dumbass you should be punished , but the output of damage from a single person almost hits you as if its timed by four .

I dont know if that makes sense as I want to explain it 😁 . Also the type of gear is very countering to pred on a few levels while pred feels pretty limited considering you have the advanced weaponry

Yes, but this is exactly the sort of mechanic you would expect from a fast-pace arcade shooter that dose not make players to care much about their in-game lives

Makes perfect sense pal, I have killed preds solo many times before, but on the same note - with the same squad, many preds took us all out. So balancing will not sort the problem. I genuinely think that if more people would play hybrid they also would stop complaining about balance that much and start complaining about something else entirely - this game dose not give you the premised hunting experience. It is, in its very essence, another CS

I mostly played fireteam but would play pred regular aswell

Definitely pace is a huge part of the game. Depending on the mission it can be 4-12 mins, is that worth waiting 8+ minutes in a queue?

Actually keep the 1 tap ability but make the 7en a true .50 cal sniper. 1 shot blows the preds head off or evaporates his chest.

You know, I used to be a pred main – literally not touching FT after the second patch. I was raging at PC squads, always knowing exactly where I was in the trees and where I was going. Only after starting playing hybrid I’ve realised it was not due to wall hacks or some radar bullshit, but very predictable and repetitive game mechanics.

I mean – just look at predkour. Yautjas are moving along scripted paths, you as the player have almost 0 control of the way he moves in the trees, apart form choosing general direction, it takes literally 2 days for a semi-conscious player to learn those paths and be able to track the predator wherever he goes. There is no way for pred to be stealth – quz there never meant to be a way for that. Predkour and camouflage are just eye candy for fans, not real tools you can use for stealth and ambush - something you wolud expect from an arcade shooter

When I watch some clips from top Preds fighting PC death squads… I mean for Christ sakes man, this game is not only a fast pace arcade shooter - its one of the fastest ;-)
Just watch this as a good example from @Samhain13 - you can twist your eyeballs XDDDD :

This is not what stealthy hunt is suppose to be. But this game is build in a way it cannot provide real hunt experience.

take bane away and u have balance.

There should be changed aeveral things for more balance and “realism”.
The Predator must have it’s HP buffed, at least 130%.
The 2nd wind cooldown should be shorter at least 30%.
About the mechanics, pigs should’t scream twice.
On the other hand, the Predator should not be able to know if he is spotted although the Predator should be noticed when a gun is pointed at him and there should be a perk for the plasma caster shoot back automatically in 360° at the shooting enemy despite of the weapon equipped, and shouldn’t be shown the icon of the reinforcements location nor the extraction point.
Target isolations shouldn’t exist, although the noise bubbles should be a constant to keep track of FT/AI when using vision mode.
The PS4 button map should be arranged so the weapons/items should be toggled quicker.
There should be a plasma caster cooldown to avoid spammers. There should be more ammo for the plasma pistol, netgun, increases nomber of traps and arrows.
The AI behaviour should be fixed in purpose to be an equal opponent to the Predator and FT, their spawn should be fixed.
Missions should be modified in order to add objectives that make the FT separate from each other.
End-game statistics should be added (who took the mask, who defused the bomb, etc). All-time statistics ranking board should be added.
Map voting before matches should be added.

Stealthy hunt for Predator in this game means trying to take out 1 fireteam player that is far from the others by suprise as fast as possible without the others arriving to make you go second wind in 2-3 seconds. The only ones that can “hunt” and make the other run are the fireteam cus the damage makes it easy.

talk to call of duty about this… one shot mechanics are in every game.

Running as FT is a bad idea in general cause then pred just picks you off. Its better to stick it out and do damage. Pred has a option cause he can successfully run away. Engagements happen on preds terms

you may not engage depends on the early game when they are most vulnerable

I think Bane is a terrible use of six perk points, but I’m down for removing all damage perks for both sides. It would really incentivize the use of utility perks that can really change up playstyles.

That is pretty easy to avoid 🤨 , if they are aware of where you are? When you are running through the tree you should be using the camera angle and when you see the notification of being able to leap to another branch? You use it 😄 i never run the line of the trees, I used to always zig zag between trees and have an unpredictable pattern?

In short? Git gud

Animals that hunt in real life often have to retreat, reposition, stalk, and attack again until they get the kill.

Exactly. I don’t understand why nobody understands that and cries about being “hunted” as the predator.

Dear God, I see what you mean.
