My only thing is I am fairly indifferent to the whole ordeal. Not really political either. Let people do them. I personally don’t support the BLM movement mostly due to my own reasons and some of the things I’ve seen an dealt with. I am also indifferent to the whole All lives matter because in all honesty the way I view it we are just a blip in the cosmos and when humanity is nothing but ashes we won’t be remembered nor matter. Just my opinion.

4 year minimum college requirement to be a police officer. Must have a pysh coarse.
2 years on the force till you are given a weapon of your own. Till then a officer with a weapon will ride shotgun and not exit car unless needed.

Also on this, a lot of departments already require 4 years of college, very few don’t and it’s usually smaller towns. They also already have psych evals and a lot more than what you realize goes into being a police officer.

As for the other they have that too. It’s a learning program before you officially join the force you go through a year to 2 years unpaid internship and do and learn everything a cop does. Then, go to the academy for other training and if you pass then you can be a police officer. A lot actually opt for this choice to see if they can cut it.

I support defunding the police to a certain extent. Ill use the NyPd as a example. During the pandemic added a new helicopter and a armored vehicle to there ranks. Why who knows but I doubt it was needed.

This also, police are actually given military surplus and only get it for a year unless they can find a reason to keep it for longer periods. AKA Full military tac gear for SWAT. Is kept extremely long periods and they do a lot of drug busts with it as well for excuses to keep it longer. Partly don’t agree with this, unless highly necessary and should be limited to what they are given.

Hardly, just telling you honest facts of how it works becoming a police officer before you go spitting off nonsense you know nothing about.

Side note, @Thunder-Cats sorry if that comes off harsh. I’ve had a pretty shitty morning between the snow trapping my vehicle and having to borrow one of my Dad’s 4x4 vehicles just to make it to work late.

It’s also I’ve known a lot of good cops in my time that work hard and actually are community oriented, respectful, caring, and fair. Very few bad cops I’ve met in my time. But, you hear more, no matter what it’s about, the bad than you do the good.

Of course, big city cops vs small town cops are very different in what they deal with.

Being a cop some people it changes when you see the worst of the world day in and day out. Not saying it’s an excuse, but I try my best to look at it from their prospective as well. I look at the good cops as role models since I’ve always wanted to be one and I shame the bad ones because they give cops as a whole a bad name.
