Can we agree that PS plus shouldn't exist

Their still servers mate. They need to be maintained and supported as well. They’re still integral to everything that you need on PlayStation

But they’re completely separate from the game. Not my problem. Even people without PS still have an account for single player games. Should we need for single player too to compensate for these players that are taking up space?

But without those servers you couldn’t even play a game anyways, right? Because you need them to create a PlayStation account and use a PlayStation XD

Same for people who play single player games only. Why not charge them as well.

Can you play a single player game absolutely anywhere without having to create some sort of account? And I’m not talking about consoles 15+ years old here

No. You have to create an account. So should they charge you for having an account mmo style?

Not to mention again, they’re making you pay for these servers by taking something away from you and making you pay for it.

Well they have Steam. You don’t have to pay anything to play a single player game but you have to create a free account then in turn purchase something from their marketplace which also in turn supports their profits and than maintaining everything else. Plus steam makes a killing from selling everyone’s games from their store

That would be cool.

Part of why we pay for PS plus is for the company to continue making new consoles come out and to help pay for the servers and firewalls to protect your information. It’s not cheap and they only make so much for licenses. If I remember correctly PS use to not have PS Plus long time after Xbox made Xbox Live, but their servers and Firewalls were complete crap and cheaply put together.

Then, when millions of accounts were exposed from a hacker they made PS Plus to beef up security and servers to get with the times. Does all the money go towards that, probably not, but in a way you are helping provide content, better servers, better security, newer consoles, etc.

Guess think of it like Netflix or Hulu. You pay for it so you can use the subscription and watch just about anything you want, but for it to keep running to the best it can and for them to keep getting licenses to stream that content for you, you have to pay a subscription fee.

Don’t have to like it, but that’s the way things are. It’s not cheap to pay for the employees, the servers, security, licenses for things they don’t own, etc. They have to make money somehow to cover those expenses.

true that. Lots of individual tech companies who deliver similar services are prices higher for no better reason other than their integration in a popular niche market. The concept of monopoly is very rampant in today’s tech sector.
Its like how Supermarkets provide tech products & Produce in the same super store. Some do and some don’t. Some charge more, some charge less for the exact same product.

I thought that was so they could charge us to buy a new console.

It’s their responsibility to protect. Yes making a service to help pay for it is fine. But they’re taking away something I already bought and then re-selling it to me. That’s not okay.

Nope

Netflix and Hulu doesn’t hire thugs to come take all my movies I own on disk and makes themselves the only place to watch movies outside of the theatre’s.

Dramatic but it gets the point across.
