Combistick throw damage

Currently, spear and melee with the combistick is allowing predators to run through fireteams easy. Why 100 base damage for combistick throw would be better for balance:

  • nobody that uses the thick skin perk should be getting one shotted.
  • with down range, 110 damage plus 1 wristblade hit equals 145 damage that will still 2 hit scouts and recons with thick skin
  • headshots will still one shot recons and scouts without thick skin
  • throwing the combistick and slamming would still be a guaranteed 2 hit kill against any fire team class, including for Scout Predators if they use downrange perk.

It’s still a viable weapon without being an easy win, like it currently is.

I feel if we were to lower it, we might need to also lower the damage from a few ft guns as well .

I dont solely focus on the throw, but I have seen a few preds completely focus it, using nothing else.
Even tho I play a lot of pred I think it’s annoying.

But I honestly think and feel if were gonna do that, we should lower the meta guns by a bit.

I know you probably won’t agree with that, but I feel the only real reason a few preds fully focus the spear throw is because they want to be on par with ft dps.

Just my thoughts anyway.

Combi throw is the ONLY weapon that makes trade offs equal

Other wise good teams will just melt preds trying to use other weapons the combi is fine in melee and great at ranged and can be used at anytime or place it’s the only good weapon for pred wile every ft gun rapidly melts the preds health

I don’t think is the only good weapon, but damn this kid salty. As a main FT it disgusts me how whiny he is. It used to be Preds asking for FT nerfs and we laughing.

Wait, wait… Pistol? Elder Sword? You can’t be serious. Just below them comes bow (yes, it takes skill to use, but oh boy when one has it).

Combistick should be lowered in damage so it can’t 1 shoot ANY class with no thick skin. They can remove head shot damage and just make it flat damage, just make sure it can’t 1 shoot classes.

Elder sword needs a burst nerf (damn hard to parry).

Pistol needs a flash when you shoot it.

@JelouGaming That is because it works, if you complain enough apparently it does get to the devs and they do nerf (not to the level asked but still). Pretty much everything the preds cried about, the devs did something about.

Hes not an ft main, dude plays pred.
A lot of what he says comes from his win rate as pred.

Honestly while dont always agree with him, hes one of the few ppl I’d at least consider what hes saying.

Same for ft. The roof slam nerf, net nerf, combi multiple nerfs, pc nerf, so it’s been a lot on both sides.

I think instead of the flash, I think just lower the ammo clip to 4, I feel everyone would be happy with that. For the handheld.
And I think iI hate the elder sword as much as you do, but I don’t want it nerfed. Even tho I dont use it.

The roof slam was a FIX. They gave preds a massive buff to slam. Then it could kill people trough walls from a huge distance. So they fixed something they screwed up when they buffed the pred.

Combi nerf? it was more like a nerf to berserker.

Yeah, the PC nerf is there. It used to 1 shoot.

Care to count the number of nerfs FT got and pred got?

The pistol nerf is not even my suggestion. The problem (for me at least) is not the ammo or the damage. Is how hard it is to track a PC pred spamming pistol and leaping about.
The elder sword is by far the best melee weapon. It really does need a nerf to bring it in line with the rest. The club (whatever its called) needs a buff.

Daily reminder that thick skin being one-shot protection for squishy classes is a dumb and ridiculous request from people that want their scout to be a better Assault. IE ā€œparry godsā€ sprinting directly behind the predator with their knife out away from their team but don’t want to die when doing so.

Its like the only thing preds have vs a decent fireteam, Sure, lets take it away. Ill get my 3 guys back and we’ll try to push from our 100 win streak (while you guys were saying it was balanced),… to a 200 win streak, Good idea!.

No, the predator should have NO weapons that can 1 shoot a fireteam with no thick skin on. They should trade HP for speed and they do but the predator should not 1 shoot them! I don’t even play scout. I would also remind you the city hunter trades nothing, he is a pay to win class. He has above hunter stats with nothing below. So predator already have this ā€œproblemā€ you broth up with the FT.

Any class dies in a 1v1 encounter with a predator, if the pred losses, then the FT has a massive skill advantage.

Lol classes are not equal in their ability to 1v1 the predator and there’s no reason they should be. If you are pushing the pred its because they’re already low. Scouts have far more ability to pressure and push the pred and the tradeoff for this is lower hp so that its a high risk situation, not ā€œi’m going to sprint after this pred with double time and thick skin if he throws combi instead of getting parried ill just pop a syringe and finish off the last of his hp because there’s no longer a risk of him turning around on me and killing me because I have one-shot protection via a single perk.ā€
Just like putting fearless and impenetrable on a scout shouldn’t turn him into a beserker but you’d complain if I decided those perks should operate that way, turning classes into something they aren’t because you spent a couple perk points.

I’m not sure why you’re talking about city hunter, make a new thread if you think its p2w to have a forced wrist launcher gear slot.

Again, the lower HP is fine. The power of the spear throw and how it can 1 shoot its not. The spear is like a rail gun going throw multiple people for massive damage and it also blinds. Just removing its ability to 1 shoot people keep it balanced for what ELSE it can do.
You can do other things if a scout is chasing you, los him, change directions, jump over obstacles. throw traps. You can still global him IF he is alone. Spear throw is a blind for massive damage with a blind giving you the opportunity to finish him with a writstable hit.

I broth up the city hunter since you said they should not make the scout into a better assault, something that the devs already seem to have no problem doing with the city hunter.
Go check the city hunters stats and compare them with that of a hunter. That is why I believe its ptw (and I am not the only one, there was a topic on this back when it released).

You gotta understand, I’m indifferent about a lot of sht, but I’ve seen more significant nerfs to pred than ft.

Like I said, I hate the sword, huge pain in my ass.
As for the handheld, I don’t have too much trouble tracking preds with it, but I’m better at most ppl at following preds movements.

So I think not noticing it, is more of a skill thing, instead of a problem with the wep itself.
The main complain I’ve seen with the handheld is the damage potential, that’s why i suggested to lower it to 4.

Of course, these are just my thoughts and observations.

I dont use the sword at all, and the handheld I rarely use, so if they got nerfed it wouldnt really affect me.

City hunter is also the only class in the game that’s forced into using a certain gear. Would you like scout locked into smoke grenades?

Should the pred not be rewarded for lining up a shot on multiple FT while getting lasered by FT weapons?
How often are you standing on top of eachother where several of you are getting hitting by combistick blind?
It just comes across as you hopping into a match getting double killed by a spear and then complaining that its a projectile with bullet penetration instead of it stopping at the first FT and dropping onto the ground.

Spear throw isnt used for its blind but that massively increases its 1v1 potential even if its a close miss which is why it was buffed and given a blind to begin with. Tell me why you think scout should have more 1v1 potential while also having the ability to sprint down the pred when he’s low. Because the pred can throw a loudass trap on the ground and high visibility leap with scout on his heels?

I’ve generally been against any nerfs to Predator.

However, I have seen an exponential climb in combi-throw+1 slash meta among the higher skilled Predators.
It’s clearly the ā€˜go-to’ currently.

I don’t think nerfing the damage is the answer though. I think the issue is how ā€˜easy’ it is to ā€˜insta-throw’ the combi. It’s basically in the realm of ā€˜quick-scoping’.

There is no windup. It’s instant ā€˜right click, left click’, bam. That’s the issue. It’s got too much close range & mobility utility.
Simply add a 0.5-1s ā€˜charge up’ timer to the ā€˜aiming’ aspect of it, before you can throw, and problem solved I think.

Just like throwing anything, you can’t throw with great force with no proper windup.

Alternatively, just have it do ā€˜more damage’ the longer you hold the right mouse. With the ā€˜insta-throw’ being significantly less than current damage, and at full charge being what it is now.
Even a mechanic similar to the bow would be acceptable at this stage.

This is fine increase the animation pullup length because this is why people jump in and throw it for free. Whereas if 2 scouts are rounding a corner its still possible to get a hit in and force them to stop chasing.

Find a really good pred with a pistol. If he is on PS (that is where you play) I melt them if they use the pistol in like 80% of cases. I jump around and gun him down, this does not work against a good PC player. They have far better aim. This is why I want just a flash when you shoot him to help with the tracking, nerfing the ammo is going to effect people who are already struggling with the pistol.

I don’t play scout, just support or dutch. Thing is smoke is not even a good example. That thing needs removing from the game. Its not that its not useful, its a detriment to your team. Yes, its not a good thing that you’re stuck with the a certain gear but the wrist launcher is not that bad. It can confuse people and you can spam it from cloak.

The pred should be rewarded for line up shots. I have no problem with it going trough multiple people, that takes skill.
You will be surprised how the railgun thing can win you games. I lost a very close game because the pred got a hit like that in. Its not the only time I’ve seen preds do it. Just wait for the right them to use it. The flash effect is useful in situations as you described, being chased down, isolated target to finish him off after the spear hit.

Scounts don’t have more 1v1 potential then let’s say support. it can hunt the pred down in second wind but that’s it. If I end up in a 1v1 with a pred, I prefer the support by FAR. That is why I use it. You can even trade shoots to some degree.

Again, I am not saying remove the massive damage, just the 1 shoot potential so preds need to do something else to kill him.
