I stumbled into the Elden Ring Discord earlier today because the Mods there had the audacity to ping Everyone and go “This is a hard & emotional time for British people, be kind to them and don’t mock the Queen’s passing” so naturally as a British person myself I just said “Glad she’s dead, hope the rest bite it too” and the fuckers short circuited and couldn’t comprehend it.
Fuck monarchies, bunch of nonces they all are. Half of 'em ain’t even fuckin British, they got German blood in them. They don’t even have a Blood right to rule over me.

I thought (or was thought) that British Royalty is just a memento from the past and they have no political powers, and it is the Prime Minister who is the equivalent of a President from a Republic.

Well her literal last action 2 days before she died was swearing in a Prime Minister NOBODY has voted for, so we’re far from a functioning democracy. Seriously we didn’t hold an election for Liz Truss, a bunch of MPs made the choice “for” us. We’re not a free country, it’s more like an Orwellian police state if anything. They say the Royals are a memento, but they still have a lot of political sway and you need to go to them to swear in our PMs and such.

Oh it’s horrible. I hate it here, but I’m not one of those types to move to another country when shit is rough so I’m still here as much as I’d VASTLY prefer to be in America with American rights & freedoms. But today is a good day to celebrate, bit by bit those relics are starting to fade away.
Very likely the Aussies are gonna make moves to fully seperate now, to say nothing of what Scotland & Ireland will do in light of this. The faster we become a Republic, the better.

I mean, shit here is pretty fucked up too, specially when it comes to taxation. Dunno how it is around the world but shit here is whack… and it seems is not going to get any better. I don’t feel as “free” as I would like to
Some states you have to pay property taxes for stuff you own, like cars… which to me is absurd. Home property taxes are ridiculous, but one could justify a case for it. I see no justification for property taxes on goods such as cars, specially when you pay taxes when you purchase it and you also have to pay obligatory insurance and registration fees to even operate it.

Isn’t that a different situation from elections? Brian Johnson lost no confidence vote, which maybe be comparable, but not really, to a president getting impeached. At that point the next person in line takes over. Here it’s the vice president. In England i guess they have peers vote the next prime minister in.

You can’t really blame the Queen for that. It is her duty as Queen to swear in the new Prime Minster. You’re right the people did not vote for Liz Truss. Because it wasn’t up to the people to select the new PM. As Boris Johnson resign due to being outed for knowing that there was a member of his political party sexual harassing and assaulting other men. He had to resign as the members of his party lost confidence in him. After this they had to choose a new PM to replace him, and by them I mean the Conservative party as they hold the majority in parliament.
So can’t really blame her for doing her duties.
Jelou you’re more or less correct about the monarchy. They are just there for tourism and to generate money. That’s it really. As a fellow Brit myself it sucks to see her die, but it’s want I’ve grown up seeing. My whole life (28 years) she has been Queen, however that family is totally fucked. Paedophiles left, right and centre. Using tax payers money to pay for Lawyers and settlement deals. There is also a bunch of other shit, but that the main point I wanted to say.
