Oh yeah in theory our Nanomachines wouldn’t even have a fraction of the power of what Armstrong’s would have. But in such a hypothetical scenario where they did? Shit would be wack, people would have no survival instincts left and would take every risk under the sun. And that’d have really intense knock-on effects for everything from architecture to social norms.
DOWN WITH THE MONARCHY! REST IN PISS #PACKWATCH
i saw the word nanomachines and did a dusfhalfhs;fhisdhfsdfhsdifh;sfh; sfhsdiof ;sdofh
soooooooo
Perhaps. It’s too much of a hypothetical for me to speak about with any certainty
It’s definitely more a “Have a few drinks & shoot the shit” kind of topics then the more introspective & philosophical subjects we’ve been discussing at length for the past couple hours.
I can too, but sometimes it takes a toll on me. I was really worn out buy all the faults/defending of Prey.
I could use a little more education out of curiosity
Yeah, admittedly I don’t put much of any effort into articulating or elaborating on things these days unless I know/vibe with the people I’m discussing with. Compare the level of effort & articulation I put in for you, Pepe & Mass versus the others. Guess I’m getting too old for a lot of this shit at the ripe age of 23.
Has been fun to talk again at length with ya, always something interesting in my experience.
It all depends who you talk to. It is a bit a downer if all this effort land on deaf ears or if some kind of middle ground can’t be reached. Ideas need to become action.
Yeah, there are always going to be people worth more time & effort discussing things with than others. Better to expend the energy where it matters, especially when both parties are on more mutual ground and the talks can ultimately be more insightful & interesting.
It depends on the situation for me. Sometimes i look for serious topics, sometimes i troll a bit. Too much of one is a joy kill. It’s good that forums is so accommodating
Yeah, feel like a good bit of both was done today. Had some fun with shit flinging like a backwards monkey, ended the day with a more introspective discussion with peers that looks like Greek philosophers chatting it out in comparison.
Too much of senator Armstrong memes and it’s always in my mind now
My only concern right now is Pepe has been typing for 40 minutes and it’s like 4AM here so I might have to leave the poor bastard on read whenever he publishes his new novel.
Both have their worth in society and shouldn’t be discarded. That’s what I’m saying. Socialism doesn’t mean everyone gets paid the same, it means basic needs are met and everything anyone wants to do is supplementary and should be achieved through their own means and work. Means a farmer shouldn’t be forced to sell his land due to low profit from crops that were poor due to terrible weather (which by the extent, climate change as that does mess with the way food is grown and we need food) and doctors can practice without the threat of getting underpaid (not that it will happen as the inherit value of doctors but you get my point) It’s ensuring the protections of the people rather than cold pursuit of profit at the risk of the people’s needs and health.
Again, Socialism doesn’t remove competition form the equation. Just ensures workers are not forced to wage slave labor to the elite and if cut from their jobs, then doomed to poverty. People work to live, not live to work, capitalism takes advantage of that and actively encourage the workers to either work under their rules, no matter how terrible the conditions and pay are or risk poverty and eviction of their homes. Not real freedom if you are threatened by something like that, my way or the high way my ass.
Which is called Late Stage Capitalisms. Within time, something will grow bigger and bigger to the point that it will suffocate everything around it and that is when corporations come to be. When a business grows, they will outcompete the other but overtime they will grow big enough to dominate the entire business scene and have the resources to shut the door behind them and set the rules for them to ensure that they will keep at the top. Which you see in other companies like Amazon, Walmart, Apple, and so on. Walmart is infamous for moving into an area, lower prices to the point that local businesses, mom and pop stores, cannot compete and be forced to close down. Meanwhile, Walmart can recover from the “losses” of lowering their price and set it back up again to the normal price or even higher. With the unfortunate additional effect of their competitors now working for them and in worse conditions then they once had. Competition is one thing, but it’s another if you rig the system to work in your favor, and that is the outcome that capitalism will invariably go down to.
Communism and Socialism has it’s parameters but that would be another tangent for another day, as that’s an argument on it’s own and it’s already word thick with Capitalism and Socialism.
Yeah but also tribes had befriended and even allied to become a bigger tribe. History had always shown of tribes working together to ensure their survival of not only themselves but also each other, which would suggest something more than competition right? Means that they care enough to have each other’s back if something went down with another tribe which are huge assholes and start trying to start shit with the allied tribes. The Iroquois Confederacy is an example of an allied tribe that worked together for decades before the arrival of Europeans. Nothing of this nature speaks of capitalism, which by definition: An economic system in which the means of production and distribution are privately or corporately owned and development occurs through the accumulation and reinvestment of profits gained in a free market.
Additionally, yeah the loss of a valued member means a loss of potential knowledge, skill, and pair of helping hands. But also means losing a friend, family, or loved one. Both of these coexist. By capitalistic means, if you can’t produce then you have no value in this game and that isn’t a way to look at life at all.
Not at all, that’s a huge misinterpretation of what Socialism is. Socialism in layman terms mean that the basic needs of the people are met, the power is consolidated among the people and not the hands of the collective few. If you want a bigger or better house, you can work hard for it. Want a better job, you can go work for it. It just comes with the fact that no one is going to price gouge you from your home or determine life and death if they fire you from your work.
Also, by that end then that means we should discard people not producing capital such as orphans, the elderly, sick, disabled, ect. Can’t pull yourself up by the bootstraps? You’re parents died in an accident and too young to work in a job? Too bad, work harder serf. How can we ignore the ones who cannot help themselves? Here is an example of how dark this nearly gotten once:
So this thing happened in the US called the disability civil rights protest. Over 61 million Americans – or 26% of adults in the United States – live with some type of disability, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Through the efforts of activists like those who ascended the Capitol’s steps decades ago, called The Capitol Crawl. The independent living movement supports the idea that people with disabilities can make their own decisions about living, working, and interacting with the surrounding community. This movement is a reaction to centuries of assisted living, psychiatric hospitals, and doctors and parents who had made decisions for individuals with disabilities. The Americans with Disability Act prohibits discrimination based on a disability, legally ensuring people with a disability “have the same rights and opportunities as everyone else.” By capitalistic means, they wouldn’t be able to produce the same as someone who isn’t disabled so why put them in a position in the working force? Makes “sense” in the mind of a cold hearted capitalistic business man, but fucked up in the eyes of many. People are not a number, they are human beings who have needs and wants, and they certainly do not wish to be seen as money making cogs in the machine that can be discarded on a whim. Everyone should have the window of opportunity to work hard for something they want without being exploited or discarded as useless.
Basically, “You deserve decent healthcare and a democratically managed workplace”. Like that is the most basic layman bottom line sentence that I’m can manage.
No one is saying Socialism will simply give you the doctor’s job, rather ensure that you don’t end up in the streets due to your landlord jacking up the price so much and cannot afford it due to your job not wanting to raise your wage and finding a job is difficult due to having little access to transportation because transportation is super expensive and we don’t have better means for it like trains.
Because I’m saying this as a working class citizen born from immigrants who moved to the US due to the poverty created by US intervention/imperialistic policies that demolished the economy and governance of said country. Who then in turn claim immigrants are here to steal your jobs and take over their country when all they are trying to do is to survive as there is little to no options in a hugely poverty stricken country.
EDIT: No worries mate, no rush to reply to me, go get some rest and come back when you are ready.
Yeah, I’m about to head to bed right now so I’ll just cap off tonight with the good old “Tax Evasion is not only a moral good, but also a moral imperative” and run. Biggest reason not to move to the states right now is the 87K new IRS agents.
Taxation is theft and now that they want ARMED IRS agents, it’s even more theft by deadly force.
Tax evasion is based and a civic duty
What specific rights or freedoms? I’m not sure you realise how fucked up the US is. Educate yourself you idiot.
Good morning, miss xeno.
This is the last reply i will write to your rosy-eyed ignorant posts. I will adress a few things in order:
- I don’t give a flying fuck about how many addictions you have dodged in your life, and i’m sure no-one else does either.
This is quite blatantly wrong. Nihlism is not a belief system, it is a philosophy, in which regardless of what your ‘soul’ does when you die, there is no purpose to it or your existence. You can be a christian nihlist, for example (i.e. you believe god created the universe for no purpose). You are, in fact, referring to atheism (i.e. rejection of religion, which leaves evolution). Most people don’t really think about it that much. In fact, a beleif in evolution implies that all ‘life’ is simply a series of extremely, incredibly complex chemical reactions creating the illusion of intelligence to all observing parties. Most people don’t understand the ramifications of this.
(ftr, i happen to be an atheist as well as a nihlist, but the two aren’t really related in the way you assume).
3. Every silver lining to capitalism you have mentioned is attatched to a cloud full of fucking sky demons. For example, the whole ‘less poverty’ thing is unimpressive, due to the fact that despite the 36% reduction, the world’s population has increased almost eightfold so in reality, rougly the same number of people will be impoverished (without doing the math, at least). Capitalism is also causing the cost of living crisis in the UK. While i personally don’t really give a fuck because i have a wood-burning boiler and i live off of rainwater (and thus don’t need to pay bills for these things) it’s fascinating what the supposedly crippling tax rates are doing to the country. You say that you are impoverished, but capitalism is forcing others into poverty nowadays almost as fast as it is digging them out.
4. Violence is easily the best option in most given scenarios. Like i’ve said, ethics are bad for your survival (unless, of course, you are a caveman but that’s a whole different boat). A bit of creative violence directed toward the government would sort out a large number of problems in any given country (except the UK but we’re too fucking deep in debt for anything to save us).
5. There are no rights, there are no freedoms, and there is no fucking difference between the number and severity of demerits to, say, a dictatorship as opposed to a democracy. Continuing to use the example of dictatorships, here are the demerits:
- people have no freedom to control who’s in charge
- the dictators tend to go mad with power and use people as tools rather than as people
- This will often end in violence toward the people if they try to voice their opinion
Compared to democracy:
- people have the illusion of freedom in choosing who ‘runs the country’ (when in reality, the PM is just the face of parliament; they have a large say in what happens but at the end of the day it’s the collective voice of that politician’s party that make the rules).
- the individual parts of this collective voice tend to go mad with power as well (or sometimes just batshit insane, for example, Donald Trump who suggested nuking hurricanes). This never has the capacity to end well, and this means that those who genuinely try to help their country are steamrolled by not only the people (who view them as lazy) and their opposition (who view them as enemies). An example of this can be found in the fall of the Weimar democracy after WW1
- freedom of the press would ensure that any suppressed minorities are heard regardless of leadership, if for the fact that most of them are not only full of superfluous guff but in the pocket of a major political party anyway, making them whollely pointless.
Last thing i want to say: Have fun with your ‘faith in humanity’ over there. I’d be interested to see how far it gets you :)
It’ll get me further then living out in the boonies and drinking rainwater whilst selling knives to chavs & neo-nazis, you’re certainly a fascinating creature for such an inventive backstory.
