That’s it, the dead end right there. That’s all I consider it too.
From what I recall, the benefits of disability needs a total overall because if memory serves me right, if someone on disability makes “too much money” even though its not really enough, then they get removed from those benefits.
So they make the changes annually but for example, in 2018, you cannot make more than $1,180 or your benefits will stop. I don’t know who in the hell is in those offices making those rules but they have no idea with the rising costs of living, such as housing, health care, food, gas, power, ect, there is no way anyone much less those with disability that require more needs to survive can live on under $1,200. That’s insane, like what kind of bullshit is that?!
So in reality it the disability benefit policies that need a huge fix because it’s fucked up to punish those who have to work harder with a disability. So even if they get a specialized wage, they cannot keep it without the risk of losing those benefits. You can say what if they make enough with the new wage to support themselves but with the current rising costs, it would exceed everything. So in the end the issues that leads to rising costs AND the overhaul of disability policies need a fixing.
Should 45,000 people a year die due not being able to afford healthcare? Should people stop having their taxes going into the fire department because not everyone will have a fire? Should orphanages be shut down because there are more kids in homes with a family then those who don’t have either?
It’s a ludicrous strawman example you give me that people shouldn’t have any basic needs met only due to a arbitrary example of a fat dude who won’t take care of himself. Especially if one is over +400lbs, which isn’t that many Americans who are that heavy (despite we do have a obesity problem but not to that exaggerated extent). Might as well say we should shut down super markets because we can feed a possible school shooter.
NO, we all deserve basic needs to be provided, from having fire departments, education, and healthcare. If you want to have access to a private healthcare insurance that is perfectly fine, but what Socialism is proposing is that you have access to basic singular healthcare AND if you wish to have another on top of it OR solely a private healthcare, you can have it too.
It’s the community that serves each other, including you. “Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness” is a well-known phrase in the United States Declaration of Independence. Like the other principles in the Declaration of Independence, this phrase is not legally binding, but has been widely referenced and seen as an inspiration for the basis of government, right? So we should always keep looking for ways that keeps this statement true for all of us, and Capitalism for sure isn’t providing that if you’re healthcare is tied to your job and if losing your job means losing not only your income but livelihood as well, then this is one fucked up system that is being exploited on us serfs. And with the rising costs of private healthcare, you know people will do anything to live and thus pay for those expensive fees they cannot afford, and since it’s all about meeting the bottom line, private healthcare isn’t looking to lower anything anytime soon. This system we go ain’t cutting it one bit.
