PS: You have the legal system in order for it to actually stem out the “bad apples”. Nobody said that if altruism exists and is part of us and construct as a species, the legal system doesn’t have to exist anymore. That is bogus.

We are still evolving, and just as many don’t get the fact that alteuism is part of our good nature and positive side of our evolution, that doesn’t mean the race is over in the ways we can improve as individuals AND as a species.

And yeah, altruism can backfire when is manifested without knowledge of “who do you intend to help”. If you are altruistic with an awful person that doesn’t mean you are wrong in any way, the malevolent intent is taking the good deed or altruistic action and weaponise it or twisting it into something horrible to begin with.

And that is mostly done by the cunning, vile and obviously the mentally deranged.

Sacrificing your well-being for someone elses is the exact opposite of self-preservation.
And serial killers can perform benevolent actions for social gain and a positive perception. Means nothing.

Ulterior motive is intrinsic to human nature. Survival is a selfish act period.

If I walk up to you and ask for all your food you have on hand you’re going to A. Say no because you’re not an easily exploited idiot and people have expectations in return
Or B. Give me food because you have more food than you need which isnt true altruism because there is no tangible consequence for you and the potential of having me as an ally outweighs your loss of supplies. Until it continues to happen and you get fed up with it, because you aren’t an altruist.

The only truely altruistic act is people dying for their children or jumping infront of traffic to save people. These actions have no ulterior motive because the consequence is death. Sometimes the people that take these actions, especially for strangers, are already suicidal.

This is called social duty, not altruism (altruism has nothing to do with self-preservation or even the preservation of society), and not everyone is an extreme Kantian because human nature is a thing. And even he believed in social contracts. You get something in return, it’s how every living creature operates. No one is intrinsicly obligated to people they don’t know nor should you expect them to be.

People with this mindset sniff at the idea of how rights can’t be used to obligate others to act, but you wouldn’t be happy if the government sent you monthly letters saying you are legally obligated to report to an assigned work team to operate a farm to feed the homeless or a construction site to build them houses for free for the betterment of humanity. Go away.

Naive if you don’t think people would try to get away with anything if their actions were absolved of any consequences. Are they “bad apples” if they’ve ever been jailed or are did they just choose the “wrong path” of survival that involves stepping on the smaller guys, stealing, etc and happened to get caught?

The endgame of the idea is “Almost everyone will be nice to almost everyone, using money taken from a few.” Achieved by attacking the upper class, an unpopular minority.

Works in tiny tribal societies and amongst your family members because they don’t economically collapse lol. They can just all exist at an equal level of misery. After the overthrow phase & honeymoon period, its more class war because someone eventually replaces the unpopular minority and is next in line to be overthrown. Then there’s the brave assumption that everyone will be nice and do things while asking for nothing in return.

No man, you are no longer living in a cave trying to hunt and go tribal. Our social development and innovations offered us the ways to become and develop altruistic. Simple as that. We look after eachother, we act as a group just as well as individually.

Speaking about Kant, do you think that Kant or being a humanist and helping another human being as a simple act of selflessness is communist? Ma’ dude, you got your values all screwed up. Revise them before they throw you in a restraining jacket. Really!

Aside that, all the bright minds of humanity trying to help and implement put of passion and consideration and concern all the achievements that you have right now, and you come to somehow deny their nature and acts. As you and ones like you think that they have it all figured out and are somewhat superior to them in any way, especially in regards to the way you apparently like to think.

And after all being said, you continuously dismiss great minds than you or anybody here for example will never be like, from history who adopted things such as humanism. And I don’t get what your problem is.
Does it stay in the way of you making somehow profit?
Do you regard making profit even on the back of the suffering or the ones in need? Because if you do, the ones who are like that have deep mental disorders. Sorry to say it, do you trust me or should I put you in contact with a clinical psychologist and someone who works in forensics as well?

Despite all that there were obvious cases of altruism from social construct itself as you come closer to our times.
