Fixing Melee

Where did you think it goes at?

Down low way down low where sea and the dead weep where life is just a dream where stranger tides meet.

Do you smoke?

I play with cross play

The knife should have a 50 50 chance to parry.

If FT wants to be a parry whore or go toe to toe with Predator they must sacrifice the secondary weapon for a katana, machete, rambo knife, metal pipe and or stolen predator disc/sword.

Large melee weapons can be found in blue weapon crates, added in loadouts menu OR wait for it…when only 1 ft is left predator can umask and toss a melee weapon to the last ft standing. A challenge.

Also Harrigan was knocked to the ground after so many parries.

Hanzo on Predators fought toe to toe against falcon predator but he had a katana. Also he was a trained swordsman.

Wouldn’t it be more dynamic the more damage the Predator takes the more melee damage he can give.

Any wounded Animal os going to fight back stronger its natural.

Great Idea tho.

Its quite funny when people want to nerf the only counter to a predator spamming melee so they have free rain to floor people with absolutely no skill needed. You do know they already nerfed it before, right?

Right now it takes far more skill to parry then attacking as a predator, the most newb predators on a controller can leap to you and hit that attack button. Parry? Go play 10 games and see how many people actually get parries in. Its not rocket science but it does take more skill then what the predator does. For you to buff melee you would need to do so in a way that would take skill to pull, not just hitting a button.

So we have things like the net gun, come from behind and do hit and runs, trap the player before you engage ensuring he can’t defend at all… You know, thinks that actually need a bit of brain power to pull.

If you can’t isolate them that’s your problem and they deserve to win for playing how the game is supposed to be played. You don’t deserve to jump in the middle of them and wipe them using melee.

The problem I see is that people somehow (I guess for playing other survival games as the antagonist or “boss”) still have the mindset that the Predator is a killer. He is not. He is a hunter. You are supposed to hunt them down. Chase them, wear them down, make them waste their ammo, medkits, syretes, etc. Is the equivalent of chasing a prey until is tired. THEN and only THEN you go in for the kill.

The irony is that when we go full squad hunting preds that is exactly what we do. We chase, make it run away, wear it down to deplete its medkits, keep it away from boars, etc.

This game is hunt or be hunted, and it applies for both factions.

The parry mechanic itself is broken and needs a rework. A fireteam player shouldn’t be able to knife the predator in between parries.

Also the stamina, why is it that a fireteam player can perform unlimited parries but the predator can only perform a certain amount of melee attacks before running out of stamina?

Btw, I don’t have any issues with parry. I know how to use melee against people that know how to parry. The parry rework I’m suggesting is to help newer players and players that have melee oriented playstyles.

you can do unlimited melee attacks with pred as well, but you are limited to the first attack only once you run out of stamina.

parry also costs FT health and stamina, which means even though they can do unlimited parry, they can’t run away, which is kind of ironic how some people expect them to run away with no stamina, which is basically a death sentence since even the slowest pred is still faster than the fastest FT.

And then also you have the fact that some weapons (katana, elder sword, sickle) are very hard to parry, even if you have your knife out. Sure, they land one or two melees on you, so what? you still take all their health in 3 hits. They need 6 or 7 with heavy hitter, to down you… and you can still run away and heal, they can’t.

I’d love to use a katana against Pred, specially against BladeMaster, hahahaha

Tbh I’ve yet seen one FT take on full melee against a Pred. Of course unless the Pred is there standing still doing melee without moving, but that’s another issue.

Even the dude I parried 6 times on a row was drained of his health because you were shooting at it from the corner. And he was standing still. I still lost almost all my health.

Before they even think of reworking the parry system, they need to fix the damn parry bug. Cause is becoming increasingly annoying to parry once and then being unable to parry or equip the knife again unless you use the stupid weapon wheel. They nerfed assault secondary weapon damage, which was the alternative to “forget about parry”… So now the only solution is the grimtech on scout with the macro. Sorry, but sorry. Fix the game.

Quick Question, were you really just trolling on that Macro bullshit thread or do you actually use Macros?

I don’t like the idea of forcing a predator to back away just because they’ve lost health.

To me, the main thing for melee they should fix is tracking. Let me move my cursor around when doing a power axe attack for aiming. Let some weapons have a deflection ability for their right click to block some bullet damage, but not all. I would be okay with putting durability on weapons in exchange for this. Let some weapons(or all) have a slower charging attack(hold mouse button) that is easier to dodge, but unparryable.

Give fireteam some cool new melee weapons in their secondary slot.

If tracking was largely improved, predator had a deflection ability with some weapons, and a strong charge attack, that would be all I need, but FT needs something in exchange or its just a slaughterhouse. Remember when no one knew how to parry? It was a slaughterhouse.

Duelist Scout is a sleeper bulid, I stand by this statement every day. It’s fun, it’s different because it’s actually a good Scout bulid, and it works.
