Plot armor kicked in anytime you knew Feral had any advantage. That’s just how it works. Like how he’s unable to keep up with Naru’s brother or even her herself, but he straight up fistfights a grizzly bear? And wrecks all these other dudes with ease?

The cloak was ok in the beginning. Some mystery. JH was basically cloaked up until the very end and that was good. But I guess melee does look better when uncloaked.
Considering I came in to this film after watching the original and most of 2, I did expect more movement I guess. JH is bouncing everywhere, he’s hardly ever on the ground.
Invisible melee shot from one angle, pure budgeting. No one can even see what’s happening.
Until the last fight where they pulled out the matrix moves and all the green goo.

That was some weird cloak, going in and out of working, deactivating when hit, etc I guess they improved their shit in 300 years.

Ya that is a bit wierd actually, this pred is simultaneously the slowest and the fastest pred in the series.
His tree hopping and dodging (when he does) is by far the fastest and most nimble.
But then he sits there like he has a brain aneurysm randomly. Not even just plot armor. Just randomly in the middle of the French fight.
I think it was ‘creative design’. They wanted it to look cool.
I do think they were on budget, so yeah, CGI is not that good.
Feral was very badass in fight vs the French tho. He would showcase a new trick in every scene. It was an entertaining sequence.

Ya but it also had the flipside of his aneurysms kicking in.
The cgi moves unnaturally fast and then when it stops its like the guy in the pred suit can barely turn

how does a 80s movie do this better?
I did enjoy how he used all his tools throughout the movie, and especially that sequence in the ash-fog was pretty well done. I think him standing around brain dead was supposed to signify that he’s not afraid of the little peashooters, so he’ll stand there like a badass. I imagine this looked better in the director’s eye.

Ya but it’s still bad. Imagine taking a punch in the middle of a fight. Besides it’s still boring choreography even if it was reasonable.
This film is reminding me of Dark souls.
Very good first half, big step down second half
When I saw the cgi baby at the very beginning, I knew I was in for a treat. The horrible cg animals just made it even better.
And because the 80s used practical effects and a proper suit actor. I’m imagining Kevin Peter Hall in the Feral suit and just the body language alone would be 100% better.

That scene where the French took shots and the shield deflected them seemed more like comic relief when when paused for a second as to say ‘that don’t seem right’, and started to reload. And Feral almost seemed confused as to say, ‘what the fakk are you doing standing around and reloading’
One note on the a acting, I think it never felt like Naru was afraid. Whatever emotion she showed, it didn’t translate well into fear (usually her eyes just got big). Also, i expected her to cry much sooner.
the french were comic relief characters.
they were poking her acting out their best evil laugh for like a whole 2 min
It was basically one of those cartoons where they tie the protagonist to the train tracks

I’m not even touching on the acting and mary suisms because its such obvious low hanging fruit everyone’s going to destroy it already.

She did the brat part well. She’s pouting all the time away on. I liked how she was jealous if her brother for killing the big meow meow. She did good in those parts, but she didn’t sell fear well.
