Gentlemen... how do we feel?

Agreed. I only use the club when I’m feeling cocky as hell against an under-trained Fireteam. More of a mindset of, “I’m going to net this guy and use the club. Bet they’ve never seen that before.” Becomes more of an aesthetic kill. Lol.

Parry still way to strong. I’m still seeing people win 1v1 with Pred because of parry. Personally I thought Predator health was fine. He needs to be vulnerable to gunfire so the fireteam can push him back if he’s too aggressive, or if they lose a teammate. So the health buffs make it too easy to just charge a team that’s not full. Losing a fireteam member is now such a huge detriment I can see more and more people quitting matches the moment one person goes down.

I never had issues playing with the Predator outside of the Parry/Knife issue. I’d end games with 6 kills and wipe the entire fireteam. Only time I ever had trouble was when someone could parry. I like being vulnerable enough that I had be be strategic, but still deadly up close. Parry/Stun is probably the major thing making me feel like the Predator is a joke. Nothing feels less Predator than getting punked by a 6oz knife…seriously hate it and still think it’s too strong.

Now players can be more aggressive, rush the team more, play dumber, and not get killed, but still get shut down in a melee contest. This is really not the direction I hoped the game would take.

With the addition of the Pred health, the parry becomes even more essential to survive. It’s not easy to pull off. I don’t consider myself an amazing player and I can tell I’ll never be able to pull off 3 parries in a row. So the game has become much less accessible. I didn’t think this was fireteam Sekiro…

I like the weapon balancing tweaks, and some of the adjustments to the boars, 2nd wind, etc…but unless this parry shit gets put to bed I’m out.

Yep, shouldn’t be happening.

I’m done with the game until they reduce predator audio cues, you want to ruin the psychological aspect of a 4v1 hunt, make the hunter able to be heard at great distances, FTs arent on the lookout for predators, they listen for them and then attempt to spot, when you can hear the predator coming you take away his greatest strength. Im tired of having to adopt run and gun quake styles of play to accommodate the egregious state of predator audio detection, this single mechanic ruins so many aspects of the game it is not even fun to play as long as the system remains the same, being able to hear the predator at the ranges ruins the ability to hear it at all, it’s not a fearful moment, it becomes a moment of clarity, informing you to the approaching threat before it is even a threat, and as a predator not being able to stalk or approach stealthily makes me wonder why I even have the shitty cloak in the first place

Respawns still need to be addressed just like all things for the fire teams.
Just had three dudes in heavy armor with the SAW camp in a room until the respawn for their buddy came up and then would knife me in the back if I attacked an alone team mate. This did very little to actually “fix” issues with balancing.

  1. There needs to be no respawn. This forces the fire-teams to play as covertly as possible and as a team.

  2. Limit what items fire-teams can bring in raid. Everyone shouldn’t be a hot dang medic. Let alone a walking tank, with an SAW, with both medical tools, and perks to jack up a predator or else how are they at all risking anything? The Predator shouldn’t have to wait for a really random slip up.

  3. Make Predators not visible, nor audible from across the hot dang map. The most anyone ever heard a cloaked predator is when the predator wanted or was right behind them about to shove their wrist blade through them. Why is the Predator a third-person hack & slasher and not a steely eyed disciplined hunter.

Edit: I’ve posted more but these and about 7 other items are going to be perpetual issues going forward until rectified. Hopefully the game lasts that long, but it seems Illfonic is afraid of making the game actually asymmetric due to a lot of people who got this game for the novelty not what made the Predator series awesome.

EDIT 2: Just was in a match where as soon as I pounced a guy the entire fireteam pounced and jacked me up. Second wind ran away, but since I can’t get into the trees still 2 of them both heavy armor w/SAWs just chased me down, knifed me while healing, and then proceeded to disarm my device. Which by the way since when could they disarm the device in any media? The only time a device didn’t go off was when it got cut in half with the disc-blade in Predator 2.

This is the biggest negative for me, I’m cool with everything else but this is a change that doesn’t make sense to me. I’m level 100 I grinded on my weekend off of work but now it’s gonna be harder to get the Veritanium, it sucks cause you get punished for reaching 100 instead of rewarded.

I completely get your point. If they took all audio from the tree lines (besides maybe some birds fleeing) out and just left the heavy Predator footstep identification come from ground-level sprinting in close proximity, that would help immensely.

Mix that in with the removal of the marking system, we’d have our solution. You can’t hear him in the trees, and you can no longer mark him, leaving it up to Fireteam communication to identify the Predator’s location when he’s not jumping in the middle of a four-man squad.

In the movies, there was no stomping audio coming from the trees when the Predator was traversing. The only audio allowances were jungle/street ambiance, rustling leaves, or animals fleeing a certain area when the Predator was in “stealth” mode. Since when is he loud as hell? Most notably, the Predator vs Alien fight scene in AVP’s temple, where you can clearly hear the Predator stomping his way into a 1 v 1… first time I heard detail on how heavy the creature is. Right now, you can hear the Predator from two-hundred yards away.

I see what they’re doing, but I can’t imagine it working on the long-run. Suggestion: remove the marking system, and remove exaggerated audio queues while the Predator is in the jungle (besides cloaking/de-cloaking/weapon sequences, obviously).

Just imagine the psychological impact of knowing you can only hear the predator from 3-5 meters, and then hearing the clicking, it changes from “hes coming from this direction” “oh fuck where is it where is the rest of my fireteam oh fuck oh fuck oh fuck”

The only thing I cared about was the nerf of the plasma caster! That hurt my feelings lol. And noooo I don’t sit there and snipe the entire time. I pick and choose my shots

I’m going to respond by saying, Illfonic is probably taking the balancing changes in tip-toe increments so they don’t absolutely destroy the teeter-totter they have set up. In other words, 1.06, they gave the Predator some “ammunition” if you will and they probably wanted to see how those minor adjustments would effect the overall gameplay and community response. If they were to implement all of those drastic Predator changes in one patch, we could flip this pretty quickly and start talking about how the Predator is now indestructible.

Slow, incremental buffs to the Predator over the next patch or two is my bet.

Yeah, the plasma caster is almost being treated as a “setup” weapon, meaning, used to drop some health to either use a different piece of equipment to get a down or go in close-quarters for a kill. Another way to look at it is it now takes close to two fully charged shots to down someone, not one. Their way of “nerfing” the caster.

True, I agree and how it is now SUCKS!!! Still not gonna stop me from using it tho…it’s there so might as well use it

ok after playing all day. lots of matches ballanced wins and losses, good teams and bad teams. Made some mistakes, claimed some skulls.

I am very happy with almost all the changes.

The grenade launcher change of firing mechanic wasnt neccesary i dont think. i dont understand that change. And i still feel the pigs give a little bit too much health back now that we can find them better.

Yea plasma caster should be reverted back and they need too address the audio ques from pred and change granade launched back to ex0lide on impact

The blinding effect seems moot since the pred stays locked in the slam animation long enough for the FT to get out of range even with direct hit.

I have not yet gotten to play but I have read the patch notes, and looked at some opinions out there. I like the work they put into stopping the knife action. That really pushed me away from the game as soon as I heard about it.

I don’t like that there focus was primarily buffs and nerfs to damage modifiers and stats. While this appeases any for now. Ultimately problems will return. You cannot fix a problem with just duct tape. Inevitably you will have to replace the whole system instead of just a part.

The problem in my opinion stems from two major issues. 1 Classes have no meaning, (2) missions an replayability… There is no strategic value to having one class over the other except minor stat differences. So when in doubt as predator you pick the beefiest one as it provides the most margin for error. You can take a beating make some mistakes and still come out on top.

I do feel like they are headed in the right direction, but they really have to step back and push predator and fire team classes to further lengths. I should feel a drastic difference in gameplay between a Hunter and a Recon Predator. Outside of speed I don’t really see a massive change. Same goes for Berserker, outside of speed and durability.

Fire Team compositions are set up in a similar fashion. Major difference between classes is durability, movement speed, and slots for perks / gear. Outside of that and cosmetic changes I don’t feel like a scout “sniper” is really a sniper. No more than I think a Support is say a “machine gunner”.

Like I said I am happy they were so heavy on the changes. I believe they realized how insanely important it was to keep a community. However, they will not sell me on just nerfs and buffs alone.

Yup the gear slot system lacks imagination where class specific passive abilitys would creat build diversity and team dynamic

My friends have now quit the game after this patched nerfed the fireteam a little too much. My buddy also lost his favorite weapon which was the Impact Grenade launcher.

Thats a change i didnt even see mentioned, i wish they would put the plasma caster and granade launcher back where they wer

there were some good balance tweaks for sure

but the P.C nerf was uncalled for, and must be reverted back to how it was… I can’t stress this enough

and I was sad to see no audio changes to help the pred stealth gameplay
