Predator movies;

Predator 87 - timeless classic, genre changing and the beginning of one of the greatest IPs ever.

Predator 2 - Very underrated, but a classic in the franchise that fleshed out some of the questions we had from the first movie. This cemented the Yautja legendary status amongst the fans.

Predators - Actually decent concept, great story and acting with some awesome Predator tech and species variations. What’s not to like about the thought of the Yautja having their own planet specifically for hunting the best game in the galaxy!!

AVP - A decent attempt at making a movie using the concept from the Dark Horse comics, and bringing together the Xenomorphs and Yautja in a movie. Again, more Predator tech on display and more gorgeous helmets…and then the ending happened 🙄 which leads us to…

AVPR - What happens when you tone down the Predator Vs Alien violence, focus on some highschool drama nonsense, and introduce a Predalien Queen hybrid? You get whatever the hell this movie was, that’s only redeeming elements were Wolf Predator and his tech, glimpses of a Yautja world, a very rushed scene of National Guard Vs Aliens that hoped wed feel the same as we did in Aliens but failed…sprinkled with Government conspiracies and namedropping Yutani for fanboy service.

Finally, 2018s The Predator by Shane “my farts smell gorgeous!” Black…basically, Autism Vs Predator, polluted with two many failed one liners. Slapstick Predator … And it wasn’t even a Predator, it was the super duper roid rage creature that could one punch our favourite Yautja but couldn’t remember that same strength when backhanding a cocky sniper. Apparently, all it takes to counter these elite, ancient hunters is a kid with Asperger’s Syndrome… If only we had known eh🙄

The novel is officially canon, and a sequel to Predator 2.

Doesn’t matter what does is that it is official and canon. Also the novel starts at the end of 2 and fills in what happened to Dutch up until the game. So check and mate.

I don’t believe they did. Because the OWLF tapes and Dutch tapes all align with the novel not the first movie.

Predator cannon includes all films (yes including the crossovers), the Hunting Grounds novel, Hunting Grounds itself, and the Neca backstories created for the Predators.

The only thing up in the air right now is the DH comics given it’s going to Marvel and we don’t know what they’re keeping if anything as well as potentially the novels.

Hunting Grounds is based on the first movie in terms of style but it’s not saying the first film is the only thing that’s canonical.

I would be careful to call this “the lore”; I’d call what you are referring to “this games accepted&expanded lore” if anything, although this game doesn’t have to/won’t reflect everything that appeared in that novel.

And if we took everything they laid out for this game as “dogma”…by that same logic would “my opinion” that having a FT composed by 4x Dutch is bullshit be invalid?

Criticism in the interest of saving what is the perceived essence of the franchise and what we currently like of this game’s original concept, I think not only is valid but also very welcome.

Finally I want to say: I love that they brought Dutch back, I really do. I enjoy the lines they wrote for him, and I like the story. I also like his look, mask on shoulder and wrist computer included. So I would welcome even a (balanced!) version of that arm mounted plasma caster as you mentoned, because who else could have that if not him. BUT one condition: him only.

I swear, if Disney pull that same shit with Predator that they did with Star Wars and declare all of the comics as non-canon there’s going to be war.

Disney’s latest princess; Yautja Yasmine🙄 with songs, dancing and all the usual nonsense.

Ever wondered what would happen if Michael Bay had directed a Predator movie…well, looks like we’re going to find out Marvel style.

I believe both the novel and game have been officially accepted as canon by Fox (or whoever the conglomerate go by). Illfonic mention it in an interview with AvPGalaxy I think…

DH actually rebooted for the Alien Prequels which included both Alien and Predator. The only reason as much Predator stuff was still considered cannon was because because it was used for Hunters. DH already did that for Disney.

I liked the aliens, pred-alien, and wolf in AVPR. I absolutely hated the perspectives of the humans in that film, it was all dumb and pointless.
We do not speak of that abomination from 2018.

Totally agree, there was no need for any of the human element in that movie. The only part that was exciting was the National Guard scene, but that was rushed and fumbled so bad. So much potential, squandered… The Pred Alien scene at the end of AVP was a great cliffhanger and I remember being hyped about it…but when they made it a Queen as well, that can just pump lil’chestbusters into people that was like a baseball bat to the senses? The showdown between it and Wolf was also an opportunity for greatness wasted, because of the focus on the human element.

If we’re going down the ‘lore BS’ route, a Pred uses an assault rifle in Shame Black’s movie, therefor Preds should be able to pick up and use assault rifles.

Some people seemed determined to turn this game into a generic sci-fi shooter where everyone has access to the same weapons and abilities.

AVP and AVPR are absolutly dogshit, with one (ONE) minor exeption - Wolf Predator. Don’t know why but to me he is on the same level as Ghost from Pred2 - fucking epic

Seriously - Iv’e watched AVPR like 12 times only for Wolf.

We do not speak of that “movie”. It’s widely agreed amongst the fanbase and communities that it should never have happened…the original plot was even worst, Predators wearing military fatigues🤣🤣🤣

I, for one, do not want that to happen. I like the games dynamic as it is, although they need to seriously do something about FT classes and making certain weapons class specific. A Scout sprinting through thick jungle strapped with a minigun and LMG seems absolutely ridiculous.
