no this is a waste of a weapon slot here is the stats for all predator weapons so you can judge for youself which weapon you should consider using for melee weapons keep in mind weapon swing speeds as the rule club and stick are the same speed and are the slowest whearas i think the sword is the fastest swing

Yeah, but those numbers donât talk about anything but damage per shot. Yeah, it has damage comparable to melee, but it has a high rate of fire, six shots before a reload, No charge time, minor splash damage, and no light while aiming. You can fire off all your shot while the FT is looking for your shoulder lasers. Its not a one hit KO but it is far more useful that people give it credit for.

I personally use it with the bow. Maining the bow to harry and down, but the handheld is used when I down someone so I can aim and wait for their buddy to come revive. Or if they are too hoppy/agile for the bow. Its quick fire, splash, and infinite ammo lets my still harry them without revealing my position.

ok you say that but the bow and the plasma caster do more dmg have reasonable shot speeds and kill while their downed easier and are better harass tools whereas this dinky pistol by the time you unload all six shots you could die in a firefight a single stim negates all dmg this gun will do to them this gun is worthless compared to other ranged options
now if your going to say you shouldnât use it as a firefight tool why not when it has unlimited ammo and you canât overcharge with it and it has no laser sight as thatâs itâs only strength worse you canât even say youâd fire them off while there looking for the lazer canon when your invisibility doensât even make you perfectly invisible when standing still let alone firing and you make noise passivly all it takes is one fireteam member with headphones to find you and that pistol is worthless youâd be better off taking any other tool and just shooting the canon instead
suppose i should add in case your gonna say fireing it via corner cover poking again every other ranged weapon side the disc does this better and if their support and they notice your using this weapon they should be smart enough to know to just rush you down cause you won kill them with that pistol
I used it just now and I won with the plasma gun.its not a bad gun but it depends how you use it
They do do more damage and the bowâs shot speed isnât bad, handheld is faster, which is better against hoppers. And all six shot wonât kill a support with health or pred resist, or a assault with both. And a stimm will heal three of those shots. But with the quick reload you can keep pressing it. But then again, by the time you pull off two bow shots in a firefight, you should be just as damaged. and a stimm will heal one of those arrows.
Outside of a firefight, you donât need to pause the hunt to go run around on the ground to grab your arrows, wasting time the FT will do its mission. No energy use mean you can keep the cloak and vision going while using it. ANd the lack of laser makes you nearly impossible to see while not moving. And the noise you make wonât help because the handheld is so bloody loud, I hate using it while on call with friends.
This isnât a corner poke weapon. Only the shoulder cannon does the damage to make it worth the damage you take in return. I donât know how many bio masks Iâve shot off from someone corner poking with a bow. You donât do that. The corner poke is only useful for the shoulder cannon because it hides the laser. Everything else is just a waste of health. And if they rush you with the bow, you are just as dead, because its not usable while being rushed, unlike the handheld, which will still get hits off while on the run.
And that there is the biggest thing right there. Every ranged weapon has its own ups and downs. I can make a long post about the pros of the bow and the cons of the handheld. Because they arenât meant to do the same thing.
Here is the takeaway. Never confuse being bad with a weapon for the weapon being bad.
i mean iâll be honest with you ive never used the pistol cause of itâs mediocre dmg numbers in tandem with atm predator meta is to win the game as quickly as possible do to fireteam having superior resources and finishing objâs a tad too quickly.
because of this i as a player value pure dmg output i want someone dead as fast as possible so i can waste as few resources as possible while forcing fireteam to use reinforce as quickly as possible or risk losing the game cause they lost one dude for now i will take your post at face value that potentially the plasma pistol has value in some way
now if only someone could convince me that the club has a purpose and isnât utter trash

Canât use the shoulder plasma caster while in stealth over and over without worrying about draining energy and being taken out of stealth tho.
i donât want to do this yes i know but then we run into the circular arguement of well iâm implying dmg output if you donât miss horribly and splash the canon is more effective cause you can down someone then kill them run or if you run out of energy move till energy comes back start again/ start using the bow till energy comes back or start melee rushing the injured party.
but as the discussion is over now iâll leave that explanation there unless something that isnât about my arguement comes up
I donât disagree with that.
Its more that I like that some people can make the gun work for them and get something out of it that they canât get out of the shoulder caster. Not that its necessarily more effective.
I love seeing builds that others consider ineffective being made to work with different play styles.
Make the handheld plasmacater shootable while running without stopping and now we have a unique weapon that is still âbadâ damage but can fill a nieche that no other weapon does.
