1st and 2nd landing support battalions reactivated
These battalions haven’t been used since WWII
I’m sure it’s nothing to be concerned about though
It’s not quite as large as you think. China is making moves but they are likely to be similar in scale to Russia’s. Russia annexed part of Ukraine, China has essentially done the same to Hong Kong and are likely to try an do it again with Taiwan.
North Korea is its own thing kinda separate, they are likely going to continue their support, but will make motions to other world powers that they should be the ones to deal with it. Which they will, with absolute terrifying efficiency. They’ll be doing the world a favour, things will be safe and organized. Of course it will also give them control right up to South Korea’s border, the US’s major ally on the peninsula.
China is concerned with controlling the South China Sea and everything up to Japan, bordering them in on the north, south and west. I don’t see them pushing much farther into Pakistan, they’re using propaganda to encourage them to look at India, no reason to get their attention.
It will be little bites, not big fights.
I saw a video suggesting N Korea might unite with South Korea and abandon communism
One can hope
Kim jong un recently made videos where he apologized to the people and admitted his failures which is kinda big I think
He even demoted his sister
I’m watching season 3 again. It’s not clear to me what Rod Reiss’ plan was for stoping the Shifter titans and repairing the wall. If Historia did receive the founding titan’s power from Eren, she would erase everyone’s memories and Eldians society would get a reboot. The shifters would get eaten or perhaps their powers might save them with some luck, but they definitely wouldn’t be Marleyan allies anymore and if they survive, they’ll likely end up with the Eldians inside the walls. That being said, how will the walls get sealed up to prevent titans from getting in?
One can hope, I really hope if it does come down to it that it isn’t China that goes in. South Korea has made every effort to help defectors, some of the most heart breaking stuff I’ve read. They have the experience dealing with the unique trauma and reintegration process.
It sucks but much of the world will likely think staying out of it will keep their hands clean and be glad to let China have its way.
To take a step back for a second and explain my thinking a bit clearer. I started following a story about Hackers attacking Ukraine, maybe 6 years ago. It happened like clockwork every winter, power plants, communication networks and even water processing would be messed with. The country would recover, outside sources would trace the attacks back to Russia. Russia would deny any knowledge or wrong doing and the next year it would happen again.
Russia uses propaganda and these same attacks to destabilize the country enough to annex a chunk of it. They got away with it, the rest of the world noticed but kinda shrugged it off. China took note though and whether before or after started playing the same digital game. Russia used propaganda against the US too, it wasn’t just to interfere in the election though, it was a cover for the same structural infiltration that happened in Ukraine. It took about 3 years for them to actually get into the American systems and when they did, they stayed very quiet. They spread for about 8 months. Making their way through the DOJ, the Pentagon, and a ton of protected systems like power plants. They might even have made routes into the NSA, which is down right terrifying.
China is playing a different game when it comes to information, they’re going to build massive data centres and comb out all the personal data. China probably already knows more about your average American than the American government does.
The next war is already being fought, we just can’t see it very well.
PS. The speculation on Sky is maybe a bit to eager. I think it will happen, just at a much slower pace. Taiwan hasn’t been destabilized yet and the excuse doesn’t exist like they manufactured in Hong Kong.
Will Japan not stand up to China’s expansion?
Just spamming I really don’t care, this government no matter who’s in charge will fall and it will be because of the divine, like Pagan romes fall so shall America, for history repeats itself, time to prepare for the collapse 😁
They will but they don’t actually have the capability because of the treaty signed at the end of WWII. Japan can’t legal initiate any military action (don’t have proper military just a defence force), they can only act to defend their own vessels. So China will ignore them and physically bully them with threatening but not illegal acts. Japan will file grievances but China will just state they are patrolling waters they lay claim to, or waters they are passing through.
China will file their own grievances about fishing or whaling. They’ll add heaps of distraction and do what Trump was very successful at, the Gish gallop I believe it’s called, a flood of information that isn’t entirely accurate and that would take too long, for most people to work their way through.
The world always looks like this though, it’s always got it’s ongoing expansion retraction cycles. Countries are constantly in a state of tug-o-war. Having an informed population is a double edged sword, as each generation starts to pay attention to the problems of the day, they over estimated how much will change the world. Over most periods of history, the changes happen in spurts. Like what happened to Ukraine, people could see it coming but when it finally happened it was over immediately for all intents and purposes. We aren’t on the brink, it’s more a continuation of all that came before. The opposite side of the sword is people who are complacent, they know something is wrong but see it as not their business or beyond their control.
Earlier I think you mentioned China using economics as their weapon against the west, I think you’re right about that. They collect America’s debt at every opportunity are building a database about ordinary Americans (Canadians too). They’re not looking to fight America fairly and I’m sure they would love to 3rd party America and whichever (likely Russia) country China can get them engaged with. It smarter to cause as much economic harm first though. All that debt become meaningless during an open war. So they’ll use it first. Not that, that is likely any time soon. Just a thought experiment because I really do believe it will be little bites and intimidation that are their core tactics.
The thing I find most disturbing is that between Russia’s infiltration of computer networks and supposedly secure systems and China’s growing ability to manipulate huge amounts of data about people. When we do actually have a war scenario, we will be very unprepared for how personalized the individual attacks will be, both propaganda and blackmail aimed a huge swaths of the population. That even though we won’t want to, everything will be shutdown and communication will become horrendously controlled by the government as the only means to stop it.
That’s really unlikely, but if it did happen, things would never be the same. To save freedom, we’d have to give up the most freeing thing on earth. The ability to communicate instantly, and the internet as we know it.
Australia will
They will indeed, but only as far North as they care too. I think they see the South China Sea as expendable.
Watch more Australian news coverage and you’ll see how they feel about china
Also south Korea will step up
And of course the US
If you can see this coming so can the military. If they can assess that there is danger in China’s slow expansion USA will go looking for a fight if they can’t halt it with whits. Laws are for people without power, and they’ll go to hell once people with power are intent on doing something.
Plus i think india is not going to be sitting pretty either while china grabs territory around them
That I see as more likely, South Korea has a vested interest in not being boxed in. There’s an American Carrier group and quite a few other countries will come and be part of whatever action is taken.
I think it will be over, at least for Taiwan before then. The islands they’re building are to claim the water routes. I feel most of the drama will actually play out in the U.N., but it will just be delay after delay.
I probably don’t watch enough Australian news, haven’t found a channel that I like. It’s all a bit hokey, and that’s coming from a Canadian, 😂.
America did send it’s carrier group back, so I’m pretty sure they know what’s up. The part that sucks is how often they know what’s up and let it happen anyway.
Britain and Hong Kong come to mind. Offering them all asylum was nice if impractical. I much would have fathered have the stare down over it now, while they aren’t actually in a war footing.
Taiwan is heavily armed with American weaponry
I don’t think it will be easy for China
China wants Taiwan
Not only that they believe they already own it
They’re not going to take it through legal means
I don’t think they can
They keep peace as long as the can. With superpowers you have to engage in diplomacy and flex muscles without risking open war. Once those options dry out we will likely have war. Something has to give
I don’t think they can legally but I do think they can create a situation where they invade it similarly to Russia’s annexing. Then it will be too late. Much like Hong Kong, people won’t want to risk war over a handful of strangers.
I definitely agree with that @Anyt1m3. It’s why things keep getting gobbled up unfortunately, we’ve become distracted and it feels like it’s far away. It won’t ever come here but there is hope, people are pushing back against Hollywood’s behaviour towards China and looking the other way, which is a start.
I don’t think Taiwan will fall
It’s too important
It will be seen as an act of war
And Taiwan’s allies will respond in kind
The only scenario I see taiwan falling is if US is engaged in another part of the world
With the current reactivation of the 1st and 2nd landing support battalions (amphibious assault)
The US is preparing for possible island warfare
I wonder how Russia and India will react to this. Lets say they are not USA allies because USA is top dog, but would they really want want a strong China right next to them
