i get that part, but didn’t Rod Reiss consider the new threat from the shifter titans and that erasing memories would not stop that. Seems like he should have been considering other options. How far would historia’s memory erasing powers reach? Surely they would affect the shifter titans, but even if that threat would disappear, the the gate at wall Maria would stay open.

Don’t know if it was just a tradition or duty thing for Reiss but he definitely had no plans to change anything. That and they most likely believe they deserved their destruction when it came, like the first king did. What mattered to him was keeping the founding titan within the same bloodline period to preserve the kings utopia until eventually they all die. Not much else. Just because that was the first kings pacifist ideal. As for Shifters, they inherit memories of the previous shifters, I don’t think those can be erased. Much like ackerman’s that have titan powers can’t have their memories wiped.

Rod reiss, when he was young did want to defeat the titans. I guess tradition matters more than people’s lives in the end.
Dropping a rock is a possibility but shifters want the founding titan too so it’s not like they would stop trying, although season 4 so far seems to say that they did become preoccupied with wars on the continent for a while. Marleyans never expected Eldians to invade tho. If they did survive, Reiss would need to have more kids to continue the bloodline, or Historia would become a mother. Still don’t understand what Reiner meant when he hold Eren that Grisha manipulated them all. Maybe season 4 will still clarify that.
