Tbh all the shifters tricks aren’t secret anymore and Eren has beaten the armored titan twice. The female titan’s captured. And they know their identities. That final desperate push against eren was because they were out of options and they still lost the collosal, the alternative was retrieving annie and fleeing. Levi can singlehandedly kill Zeke, Beast titans only real advantage is being out in an open field throwing stuff from far away AND zeke has royal blood and is considered a prodigy beast titan shifter. They also can’t risk losing knowledge of where the founding titan is or they have to start all over again because if eren is killed without being eaten a newborn will inherit it at random. Marlyeans keep eldians hoping they get that titan RNG too. Also note that eren has both the Attack Titan and Founding titan, and currently Marley doesn’t know how to seperate the two. They don’t want to give the people within the walls two titans instead of just trying to get someone to eat eren. And mother Historia will become a plot point eventually.

all of this makes sense at current predicament.
I was taking about a situation where Rod Reiss gets his way and Eldians memory is reset, yet the shifter are a threat and there is no titan to prop the gate with the rock (i think the king’s will in the founding titan would not allow for that)
i think i was saying too many things before and it made for some confusion.
I think if Rod Reiss was to succeed, the shifter should have eventually won and taken the founding titan. I would have wanted him to have foresight of that possibility and to have tried to do things differently.

I don’t think they have any viable method to plug the walls aside from eren. Shinganshina was a 3 day trip by horseback too. They could kill all the titans within the walls and drag equipment there to create a blockade but it would take ages. And in the meantime people within the inner city would starve. The last bastion of humanity within the walls would probably retreat to the underground city. Some people would survive eventually. The wall extends underground too though so there’s a limit to how much land they have. No farmland there either but rich families do live underground. No shifter is going to go down there either.

Now that I think about it even if Marley were launch a full blown undergound assault, they’d be fighting against a whole scorched earth policy and vietcong tactics. No food to sustain troops on the island either. They require the founding titan to truly wipe eldians out.

Perhaps marley would win, but that would severely compromise their continent campaigns. Another curious thing is that shifters didn’t know that Eren had the founding titan, otherwise they wouldn’t go back for Historia in the first place. And in the battle at wall Maria they still don’t know that so the whole operation is kinda botched. Unless they did know somehow, as I’m still puzzled by reiner saying ‘grisha manipulated is all’
I thought it was zeke that said that because heard his fathers ideals before. Could also be that he was living a 2nd life there. But yeah they only knew Eren had the attack titan, so they just wanted to hand him over to marley so it could be reclaimed like ymirs. They didnt know grisha had taken the founding titan too. After that they started refering to eren as the coordinate.

They chickened out quite a bit on eren’s massacre but it got the point across. Shows pretty heavy handed with the violence so its weird to get cutaways now. That and he seems like hes just angry punching the officers and others are just collateral damage. In the manga eren was quite literally swiping his arms across the entire crowd to kill as many as possible. Different animation studio with different direction I suppose. Warhammer fight was fun, scouts feel seasoned af now
It is progressing very fast, but it’s good to be caught up finally. it was Zeke who said that Grisha manipulated/brainwashed us all. I googled it and there are plenty of opinions but I have not looked at it closely yet. Your explanation about Grisha brainwashing Zeke as a child to be a Warrior and perhaps brainwashing eren with memories does make sense. I guess it’s kinda tragic as the founding titan and resources will not end war between nations and the Eldians attack on the continent won’t do that either. Peace negotiations will but neither side is considering that option
