I’d like to talk about Moderators

Hi everyone, I’m Slasher, nice to meet you.

I think we need to have a conversation about acceptable public behaviour and discourse. I also think we need some Moderators to give reasonable punishments for toxic behaviour towards others.

Name calling is incredibly childish but there seems to be more of it as of late, I’m not talking about implying something or being sarcastic. I’m referring to things like attacks using derogatory names for protected groups. This really isn’t something that should be allowed to be posted on a forum for a game.

We need Moderators who are members of the community and who understand its their job to guide not police. That being said they do need the ability to temporarily or permanently ban people who can’t play nice with others.

Thank you for taking the time to read and for any constructive feedback.

There’s more than one person who has crossed lines today or in the last few days. Without Mods to warn them, why would they stop behaving so badly. The way I see it, warnings need to be given for such stuff, otherwise it just encourages more. Then nothing actually gets discussed and I’m here to talk about the game not verbally beat up trolls.

i like the idea

I agree this forums seems heavily unmoderated.

But is the moral of the story is that it is okay to use derogatory names of non protected groups?

I mean.
I think a banning system would be okay.
But, why not Moderators that simply just edit the sentence.

If a comment has a word or phrase to harsh.
Moderator has all the rights to edit the sentence or word to something appropriate.

Example:
Dillion your a bitch.
Moderator comes in and changes the word.
Dillion your a doodle.

If the sentence or word is impossible to replace.
Simply delete it with a message stating.
Unfit for Public viewing”.

If the Moderator notices to many deleted comments from a single user.
Then, they should ban.

At least.
That’s how I see it, but I’m only speaking for myself. Idk what everyone else wants. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

I dunno, I kinda like the freedom and realism on this forum. It’s a breath of fresh air for me after coming from places like Reddit and other platforms that are too moderated.

The Dreadnought forums have a program that detects harsh language and won’t let you post it unless it’s changed. Though there’s a work around with trying to change out letters with numbers and such but it would be a start

I think it would be fine if posts that are targeting individuals could never see the light of day only to avoid bullying

Please ffs no. No censorship. Theres too much of that bullshit everywhere. A lot of people around the world just swear naturally.

I fucking hate when ppl try to control how others talk

It’s completely unnecessary and honestly childish to make a post specifically to call out or attack a player on a video game forum. Encouraging bullying is silly even if the individual is being irrational you simply turn them on ignore and now they will never be able to contribute to your conversation. Cmon guys I know I’ve been watching the absurd war that was being fought on here that should’ve been extinguished by simply turning them on ignore ya’ll are better then that.

Ok. Reading comprehension buddy. I even quoted you to show specifically what I meant. And frankly I don’t see how adults can bully each other.

My response to you was directed at blocking out “harsh” words.
I fkn swear a lot. And I hate when theres a censor cause ppl are too sensitive and want to control how ppl talk.

Cause that’s all it is. Wanting control. Its fucking sick.
As for harrassment, I stay out of it. Sure I’ve teased and poked fun at ppl but I’m not here to just pointless argue or bother ppl.
I’m here to try and discuss feedback on the game.

That’s fine I mainly want this place to be free of harassment. Keep the filter off I don’t care for that. Forums just doesn’t need to devolve into some middle school yard

You can harass and bully without swearing, so censoring “bad” words will fix nothing really.

No, I was merely using it as an example, I’m Canadian and our language around these things is a bit different than Americans. So no, the moral isn’t about protected groups.

I’m also against censoring swear words just because it’s adult language, but recognize the difference between swearing about something and at someone.

Canada is in the Americas right, so you’re American? I am confuse
