I’m confused

This happens everywhere, historically people can and will punch down. The people you see in prisons and shit schools aren’t the one’s that can afford to go elsewhere. People that are intentionally pigeonholed and lack information can 100% be manipulated and you do get the racist counselor with the “Hey kid you’re black go join the nfl or become a rapper. Got nothing else here for you” which yes is systematic racism. You also get the low income white kid that leaves the office thinking he’s trailer trash, systematic classism? Both are stereotypes.
Topic of “ethnic names” goes back into implicit bias territory though. You see jestophersone and tom and you’re going to gravitate to Tom. If a mexican diner hires the mexican instead of the black, tradition or not, is it systematic racism? What about ethnic tattoos and piercings? Ebonics or not liking someones hill country accent?

Systemic racism exists but you have to discern how much of that is a class war more than a racial one. Is a law increasing time served for posession of crack over cocaine systematic racism? Because you’re only going to see low income blacks in jail for crack posession, rich white suits get caught with cocaine. Increasing the catch-all net for minority groups is oppression is it not?

I’m back, gentlemen. I was wrong, and I’m here to admit it.

Just want everyone to know that I retract my previous sentiments and admit that, in a few of the instances mentioned prior, white people can, in fact, be victims of racial prejudice and racism.

Systemic racism - no. But racism, as defined prior by @Mith, and @Lo_Leviathan, can be targeted towards white people. White people can be the victims of racism through violence, words, and racist thinking.

After I discussed with a few of my closest friends, I realized that I was wrong.

I enjoyed the discussion and I hold nothing against anyone.

Thanks for hearing me out.

Love,
Khi

Little random, but yeah been there. My old middle school I went to I had to leave because I was 1 of 3 white people in the entire school and was bullied, threatened, attacked, harassed, and so on. If I was even in the general area of someone of another ethnic race who got in trouble I was punished too because school feared if I wasn’t they’d have backlash from the community that they were racists even if I didn’t do anything.

It was honestly one of my worst experiences in school and had been my first suicide attempt because I was pushed way too far and had a mental breakdown. Partly why I don’t go around many people anymore and keep mostly to myself due to those experiences.

On a side note, curious what happened in that challenge

Aw that’s messed up. I’m sorry you had to go through that. White people were always the minority at every school I went to, but I never witnessed any kinds of racial bullying. I live in Canada though, so the racial tensions aren’t as bad over here.

That was almost 13 years ago I think, but I lived in Alabama back then and is was pretty occurent on both ends of the spectrum. I was personally raised better than that and to treat everyone equally. But, not everyone else was.

Of course I live in Oregon now and not sure what it’s like out here, but seems nicer than back where I am from

A lot of people though do think I am a mean asshole though, but not like I try to be I just simply have a hard time trusting people, at work expect people to do their jobs, and I am more of a solitary person in general and It is hard for me to talk to people.

Covid doesn’t help either trying to make friends with people, of course I gave up a few years ago trying to make actual friends XD

Had something similar growing up. Ratio wasn’t that off but it was definitely a lot less white. Got jumped by three kids in front of my grandmother for “snitching” cuz I was the smart good kid (didn’t snitch but doesn’t matter, that’s how I learned about reputation). She complained to the school and it only got worse after that. Two weeks later the teacher broke her thumb pulling a kid off me.

Bottom line I grew up firm in the belief that skin color doesn’t matter. Learned when to bluff, when to call and when to fold when it came to a fight. And ultimately that people make up their own minds when it comes to judging other people. No matter how reasonable an argument is sometimes people just can’t see past their own eyes. That’s all there is to it.

Pretty much, I never much thought about skin color. I just see people. Judge people on their character, moral values, what they do.

I’ve dated all sorts of people of all sorts of backgrounds and skin colors. Funny part was it seemed everyone else had a problem with it moreso than anything.

I believe people deserve to be happy and respected, but at the same time be held accountable for their actions as a person not targeted due to their skin nor say I was only targeted for that reason.

I use to live with a guy who was black. Chill dude, but did some really dumb stuff that was illegal and got arrested. First thing he pulled was only arrested me because I am black. Never knew if he was joking around or not, but not the point.

I think everyone should be punished equally, treated equally, given the same opportunities, receive the same care. No matter the skin color due to that is only a genetic skin pigment due to region. We are all human anyways
