I need tips on playing as predator.

One person can wipe you.

I like using the audio decoy. Seems to screw everybody up if they’re on headsets. Know where your going to plasma cast and start with aiming real high or low then aim at the soldier and come down on em’ at the last second slimming the chance of being exposed…be stealthy. You can stop an almost fully charged caster by just releasing aim. I didn’t know that til’ well deep into my level.

I do it all the time. Just don’t be stupid about it.

Lol

1X4= your still wiped :P

I’m not going to analyze the whole thing (yet, just wait) BUT…

the first clip is literally a 1V1, into a 1V2 (ya theres 3 people, BUT ONE IS LITERALLY SHOOTING A TEAMATE! Potato) into an actual 1V2, and instead of parring you the guy you take down is using the mingun. Ya sry but parry over minigun.

Now again thats just that clip so i can’t say for the rest and I’m not dimishing your skill. But that first clip is not a good example of bum rushing the FT.

First, welcome to the Forum👍🏼 Second, welcome to the game👍🏼 As you’ve already been told, it’s in a really bad state at the moment but that doesn’t mean you can’t get some fun out of it until we get a hotfix/patch.

  1. Don’t feel bad if you engage Fireteam and they kill you in about 2 seconds. They’re OP as hell right now, so inexperienced Predators are like sitting ducks. Ideally, record your matches and analyse them afterwards to see where you got the most damage and think about what you would do differently.

  2. NEVER go into a building where Fireteam are unless there is a clear exit out of there. Fireteam just love luring Predators into buildings, bodyblocking the doors and having a party with your corpse. They’re sick in the head🤣

  3. Unless you’ve already been depleting their health, don’t rush a Fireteam when they’re close together. You’ll be in second wind faster than you can say “Want Some Candy!”

  4. Trigger alarms at the camps before Fireteam get there. Let the AI deplete their health and resources, the more AI attacking them the better.

  5. Destroy health packs and supply crates whenever you see them.

  6. Kill boars whenever you see them because you’ll need them at some point later in the match. Better to have some bacon in reserve than to be on your last drop of health searching the map praying for one to spawn.

  7. Your Shoulder Cannon is your best friend. Use it to soften them up.

  8. Elder sword is better than Combistick all day long

  9. Large Pouch gives you 4 healing kits and is probably a must have perk right now.

  10. Use the trees.

I’m sure most of these have been mentioned already and others have even better tips. Watch YouTube videos and learn tactics, but most of all have fun😊💯 It’s a steep learning curve playing as the Predator, practice in solo Private Matches as much as possible to get used to how the Smart Disc flies through buildings and learn routes through trees, best angles of attack at the camps and locations of pig spawns etc

  1. Welcome to the forum. People here tend to disagree a lot, so get used to them fighting each other at basically every chance possible.
  2. Here are some Predator tips: play tutorial/private matches at first to get a good control of the pred movement and weapons, hit and run, do not try to take them all at once, trigger alarms to get more ai to fight ft, if they are separated pick off one member at a time, watch your health when second wind is not recharged and especially don’t try to melee rush during that time, run far away and get a height advantage behind cover when in second wind (People will chase), use Fireteam to level up (much faster xp and veritanium gains), and use ranged weapons to deplete ft resources, try to kill downed ft members with ranged weapons very quickly, and kill pigs whenever possible so you have some healing resources (be careful, when eating ft can melt you, so be sure they are not chasing). Those are to tips with pred that should help the most that I know.

Welcome to the game and the forum. Don’t mind the cynicism. A lot of guys who have been here a while are frustrated with the way the game is going. The game is still playable and you can still have a lot of fun. Don’t get discouraged by losing, have fun with it.

@VENN7eance laid out some pretty good tips. Most of the advice I would give.

I will add that the cloak makes you perfectly invisible after standing still for 2 seconds, or if you’re further than 45m from the FT, however the game has great audio and it’s not hard with a good set of headphones to hear your position, so keep that in mind.
YouTube is a good teacher too. You’ll find a lot of good players showing you tactics and techniques that are effective. Browse the forums or search YouTube and you’ll find some. I recommend Taemiller98 and Stone Cold Killer (J2EZG50), they’re really good.

Bonus tips: Play Fireteam and learn the missions. Then when you’re Predator, you’ll be able to tell what mission the Fireteam are doing and use that to your advantage. The best way of learning the missions is playing solo Private matches as Fireteam to know where all the objective points are located, helping you plan your attacks better.

Predator starts the match 10 seconds before the Fireteam. Keep an eye on the clock and when you see it begin to countdown hit your Target Isolation to work out where they’ve chosen to infiltrate. After some practice you’ll have an intuitive feel as to when you need to switch to thermal and hit Target Isolation.

Height Advantage perk is better than Impenetrable perk. It gives a 25% damage reduction while in the trees, whereas Impenetrable only gives you 10% reduction from bullet based weapons so won’t save you from grenade spam. Truthfully, Impenetrable is a waste of a perk slot and 5pts right now. It’s better to learn to manage your health without it.

Don’t feel bad about a few losses to FT where winning seems impossible. Pre-mades are OP and there are some really good players that can carry a team of randoms. Most of the time you’ll meet average players that will make the game feel fun and challenging. I encourage experimentation with weapons and perks, as game is fun the most in that discovery aspect.

There are blue screen crashes since the last patch, but that will get fixed soon.

I mean you just keep putting your head in the sand and ignoring the glaring issues with the game, I’m sure if you call people who criticize the game whiners and you fondle Illfonics balls some more they’ll fix the game and make everything great because as we all know this game is perfect and without fault. It’s not as if we’ve been through this cycle since launch or anything.

I love how you people see no middle ground. Either you only shit on the game regardless of facts or reality, or you’re sucking Illfonic’s dick.

The game has problems, sure. The guys fixing bugs are still doing so. The guys making more content are still doing that. The new DLC is great if you adapt your playstyle to the class and weapon rather than complaining that it sucks because you’re using the wrong play style. The small percentage of players with more than one braincell now can win a bit more often with the FT buffs, but they are far from gamebreaking as people think. The good players adapt and the bad ones complain. And when Illfonic listens to the outrage at how buffed the FT is, they’ll buff the Pred, and then the pred’s who adapted will win more, and the FT who won’t adapt will cry that the pred is too powerful. It will continue this back and forth until they stop updating the game, and when everyone playing has adapted to it, there will a lot less complaining.

And the most important thing about my post? This guy came on, new to the game, asking for advice, and this asshole hops on to his thread, derails it talking about how this game is trash and he wasted his money instead of staying on topic and trying to help. And that I have no tolerance for. He complains that people are leaving the game, and then he tries to drive off new people from playing. He needs to grow up.

Best tip is throw the game in the trash. It’s your best chance to win. Im realistically level 300 predator as good as anyone can get and the game fucking sucks. Your better off dressing up as a Predator and fist fighting the Games top employee who sold you it. Your best chance to win!

That’s actually the key problem. If you’ve got a brain cell and a half on the FT the pred practically can’t win.
I ran a few matches as Pred last night and was just phoning them in for the most part because I really do like to just play casually. I literally was held off by one FT player.
Granted if I wanted to focus and push I probably could have beaten him and wiped the team but that’s because I know what I’m doing.

Players like OP probably don’t stand much of a chance though, meaning new players or players that haven’t been here since launch, adjusting to the changes and making it work have real problems with these kinds of updates and quit the game, or at least playing Predator, because it’s too hard.
Eventually the only people playing pred are people who’ve been around forever and figured out how to win and you’ve got an enormous skill gap to deal with now.

Its the truth I’m explaining to the new person as someone that has been here day one. And just told him the truth. Also i play both sides and have crossplay on while on ps4 so dont tell me i suck or anything like because I’ve adapted and have been adapting. Him And me are fine he literally understood where i was coming from. He isnt calling me an asshole or anything. Yet here you are coming to the defense how about you look at his responses after everything.
