I’m curious as to why Illfonic has decided to take Fireteam DLC off. If they can’t bring Dutch and Isabelle back, would they consider adding
Mike Harrigan (Predator 2)
Royce (Predators)
Keyes (Predator 2)
Etc?
If Illfonic has the license to add Feral, why aren’t they adding Dutch back?
they would have to pay a whole bunch of money to get all the actors to come in and do voice lines

The blew their money getting Elvira and Tom Savini into Killer Klowns. Which makes no sense but ok.

They did, I almost got it. From all that I saw it was pretty fun, a lot more fun than Ghostbusters and certainly PHG. But like most asyms the player base dropped hard a bit after launch. Illfonic doesn’t seem to understand that these kinds of games need constant content to stay alive, there has to be updates and new additions bi-weekly, if not monthly. Its how DBD has stayed alive so long and nothing else has come close to dethroning it.

I agree. DBD is successful because they add new maps, and characters.
Sucks the pred core system isn’t polished so they can add a city map
City map would be far too much for Illfonic to program. Too much going on in a city. A lot of the game would need reprogramming as well. And Pred gameplay would be shit, FT would be inside buildings the whole time and Pred would have no choice but to go in after them which is a death sentence.

Yeah the game really is built for the jungle.

Feral Predator is a totally different intellectual property from Prey film 🎥 Whereas, Dutch’s IP is from the first film.
Illfonic will have to negotiate three different IP cases to bring back Fire Team DLCs:
- Predator film IP for both Dutch’s
- NFL and Dante’s agent for his character’s IP
- Predators movie IP for Isabelle’s
One of the Illfonic devs said, the reason why they won’t add a city map is because they would need to make a completely new predkour system.
So the city map ain’t gonna happen.

Rights and contracts, most likely. I’m willing to bet that everything that’s happened with the game has happened and was planned from the beginning. Illfonic and Sony were in negotiations with Arnold, whoever Dante is, and Alice and the owners of their character’s copyrights, most likely Fox and now Disney, for use in the game and for voice lines for drip feed DLC. These contracts were only for a certain period of time, however. After the contracts ended, the licenses and rights expire and Illfonic can no longer legally use that material. This is likely why FT DLC is not available for Xbox, and is no longer available for other platforms. You can still use them if you already bought them during the contract duration, that’s why pre-3.0 players still have them. I’m willing to bet they have been trying to negotiate a new contract this whole time so that they could have had the DLC available at launch for 3.0, but its either been stalled or fell through for whatever reason.

Money is very much more important. Which is funny, because imagine if Illfonic actually dedicated themselves to this game and made it actually GOOD? They’d have so much more money coming from it than they do now. But no, they spread their dev teams across three other titles. And it shows, in each of those titles. Again, this is why DBD succeeds, because their dev team is focus on JUST that game. Not saying they need to work solely on PHG, but don’t spread your team so thin that you can’t give the game the necessary attention when its needed.

Illfonic has the right to have it in game, just not make money from it. therefore that is why if you bought it you can still use it. Im sure they could still advertise they are in game, just not sell it.
I didn’t realize new players can no longer purchase the Fireteam DLC’s.
That sucks. All us pre-3.0 people are basically in the pay-to-win category, especially with Dutch 87 and Dante.
I wonder if they could release them as free DLC, or make statistical clones, but give them different appearances and names?
