Few questions

Are you completely uncapping match length? Stalemate?

5-10k I know everyone loves lootboxes but 5-10k vera per match if you kill the pred is dumb high lol

I get people keep asking about this destroying the helicopter, getting free kills on everyone inside, and dueling the last FT member alive but lets be serious pred just runs a circle around the person and hits them 4 times its not nearly as cool as it is in your head. Just yell at them over the mic if you want them to fight you and maybe they’ll humor you, same difference.

If I know what mission theyre doing and already know where the extraction point will be and just sit there the whole time to shoot down the chopper and instantly kill a bunch of people and shank whoevers left then why even bother with the rest lol.

Mudded FT members are already basically invisible if theyre standing still at a distance. You’re making thermal worse than it already is if it cant see someone mudded whos moving. The problem is thermal looks too clean & theres also no reason not to just turn it off.

Giving pred complete invisibility outside of jumping/leaping/sprinting is overkill. It’s predator not Hidden:Source. Also makes snipers very useless if everyone just sits around while they wait for the crouch walking predator to finally show up. Should work the same as Halo camo where bigger movements = bigger distortion & distance plays a factor. Then its fine and you’re no longer getting sniped 1000 miles away unless that persons just good.

Still against invincible kill animations because that has never been fun in any game ever and never will be.

Energy usage is fine and is there because it forces either an engagement or a retreat rather than a permastealth standoff where you crouch walk under the fireteam’s noses for 5 minutes and wait for them to start a minigame so you can stab them in the back while no one can do anything about it.

Are you going to patch the bear traps obvious shimmering visibility if you’re making it destructible?

What’s the wrist blade nerf about?

And last of all why is plasma caster AOE being removed for grenades lol. It has a splash in the movies. Don’t want it to be a worse Bow.

No, Even if the predator takes down the first helicopter, a second one comes 10 minutes later. And since the plasma caster overloaded and was destroyed to take down the first one, the second one is indestructible.

5-10k would be a hell of an encouragement to play fireteam. and if you do manage to kill pred, which with some of the changes he will be much harder to kill, unless he makes a grade A dummy mistake., Its a huge reward. To compensate for the ridiculous amounts of buttfucking you may have taken beforehand.

Ideally the chopper doesnt just Explode. People fall out of it, and survive the fall. they will take some fall damage but not much. So no, destroying the helicopter doesnt net you kills, it just delays the escape. However that being said, any pussy could camp the EZ and destroy the helicopter. But with it really only delaying the inevitable its pointless. ( In the first predator movie they found a copter that was simply crashed, and not completely obliterated, implying that a predator shooting one down isnt necessarily “explosive”)

Mudded fireteam members are not invisible to thermal though. They are the lightest blue which makes them hella easy to spot mud or not. However, because of the degradation in the mud, it means that there will be gaps in the muds effectiveness which the FT cannot prevent by mudding up as soon as they can every time.

Pred wont have complete invisibility. I only gave him 2 things. Crouch walking, Branch to branch jumping. His invisibility will break if he uses any ranged weapon other than the bow, and the bow itself lights up like a christmas tree, so I would argue that snipers might be even more effective, as predators wont be so scared to play at range.

I havent done the classes or the FT weapons yet for good reason, There does have to be some intricate fine tuning, and while I have the ideas ready, I just still need time to test the viability

Invincible kill animations arent fun, but also consider that pred still has to sneak up behind you, and you have to be standing still, and facing away. This means that you can Prevent the kill animation by simply playing a little looser, instead of standing around and waiting for pred to make a move.

The energy usage part of my post was for thermal, not cloak. The energy usage is there for a reason and I dont want to remove that. However with thermal being weaker, I figure the good counterweight is that you can use thermal all day if you want, wont take energy.

Bear traps need to be visible if they are destructible still, but trust me I agree they are way too visible right now for destructability to be viable. IF they were destructible right now you would only be able to make them work right outside doors.

Plasma caster aoe is being removed because the Plasma caster is getting its one shot down back. The counter to this isnt just the grenade gears, but also the handheld plasma caster becoming the equivalent of a predator single shot nade launcher. This simultaneously makes the plasma caster more rewarding, whilst also giving the handheld a purpose

Sorry I missed the wrist blade question. I was merely defining the role the wrist blade Should have in comparison to everything else. as it stands the wrist blades already function like this.

Not by any means. I havent put it in the post yet, but I intend on stripping the damage resist of all the predator classes significantly. The idea is that predator will have to pick moments when the fireteam arent hugging each others dicks to get into melee range. The only reason predator melee spam is so high right now is that predator cant reliably sit in the trees for more than a moment before being spot spammed and blasted down. So it swaps it, gives predator a little bit of strength at range, but makes it harder for him to do two crucial things.

  1. Melee spam an entire team down

  2. make really stupid claims.

Spotting is fine imo. It’s a great way to keep a fast moving hunter or scout at bay as they usually run off once spotted.

I’ve said for weeks now that nerfing the plasmacaster was a mistake. I think it created a lot of these zerker rushers by removing the preds main ranged weapon.

Totally disagree on giving the pred more invisibility too. I’ve had games where a good pred player has been super hard to locate because he was watching closely and only moving when it was safe.

I’d also leave Dutch alone. He’s got slightly higher health than assault and decent stamina but he has poor carry weight and low perk points. So just like any other class he has good points and bad.

If so, im sure you can do this too. But unless pred finds a good hiding spot where he isnt cloaked, so he doesnt click every 5 seconds, I can not only spot predator from quite a ways away, But I can chase him so far down he has to cross the entire map just to get out of my Line of sight. Now if the spotting would break on line of sight as I described in the post, The predator wouldnt have to cross the entire map for the entirety of the fireteam to lose him

The invisibility is the most crucial part. I gurantee you if they do that change alone, the game will spike like crazy, because people will actually enjoy playing pred again.

I have mixed feelings on dutch. Because on one hand its classified as a DLC, so it could be argued that it doesnt matter. But in my opinion its paying money for the skin and early access to the weapons that is necessary… not fucking paying for a completely new class.

Because whats gonna happen is, we are gonna get a ton of new classes as the game goes on (assuming it survives), and at some point i gurantee one of them is gonna be super overpowered.

If we nip it in the bud now, we can prevent that kinda shitstorm.

However, its possible that future classes for both pred and fireteam will have abilities. Which we would have to give up in the name of balance, some of which could be extremely cool and fun.

Really its hard to say. I just dont like the idea of how closely we are scraping the pay 2 win kind of mentality here with dutch.

No I’m on ps4 for this particular game. I personally think that crossplay should be abandoned and both versions balanced separately as there are too many things that will benefit one platform over the other.

People already like playing pred. If they didn’t the queues wouldn’t be so long. I’d play more pred if they were shorter. Jeez most people on here claim to be pred mains.

They can sell new classes if they want imo as long as they are not op. The Dutch class is a good example of this. He’s not better than any of the others just different. If they keep doing that then it’ll be ok

Yes, I do agree, crossplay makes this game extremely difficult to balance.

People like playing pred just like they like playing dutch. But even though this game lets you play your favorite characters, once you actually play them it just doesnt feel right. Now for dutch its nowhere near as bad. But predator doesnt feel like a predator. He feels like a bitch in his own game. Even as a PC predator it can be rough as hell.

Yeah I suppose you are right. I just dont like the idea of telling them that its okay to do that kinda shit because I dont doubt that they are gonna push it, either intentionally or unintentionally.

Hey I agree that pay to win sucks. I hate it. If they keep the new characters grounded with some differences to other classes then it’s ok as long as some of the cash goes towards new content. Although I do miss the times where devs would put new maps and stuff into a game for free like some old battlefield games did. And if you bought dlc it was called an expansion pack and often had as much content as a full game.

Yeah it feels off but unfortunately playing games aren’t like seeing a scripted movie. I was hoping for long tense missions where we are slowly hunted. But it’s not going to happen because people aren’t scripted and they only lose their virtual life if they decide to hunt the pred.

I think some balancing will help but we are never gonna have the true predator experience in a game. Unless people role play or something.

This is partly why I have suggested a hunt mode where there’s no mission but to survive the pred encounter. FT spawns in the wreck of a chopper shot down by the pred. 5 people join a game. A random becomes the pred and if an FT member kills him then he respawns as pred this time. Old avp had a mode like that and you could do some good hunting. Since it just respawns you when you die you don’t need to queue or reload the game. Oh and FT would spawn with a knife, pistol and a 10 sec window to mud up before becoming visible. Then they’d need to locate rifles etc and group up. Pred spawns with everything.

I think that with these changes we can get very close to slow methodical hunting. Way closer than we are now.

I like the idea of a hunt mode, but they could go a step further and take from “predators” and have the FT airdropped onto an alien world.

Well that’s just the same idea with a different opening scene so yeah either one is good.

Not necessarily. The change in scenery on a new map would be good. Alien world means no basic bitch outposts. We can get into abandoned alien structures, etc.

Could also have collectibles to find, which could be interesting.
