I haven’t really seen his much of his recent work so I can’t judge that, some of his early work was really influenced by other creators

EVERYTHING in the game is literally in the pak files. The running process is there to interact with the OS and handle I/O from peripherals and graphics.

Functions, calls, textures, blueprints, objects, etc. literally the game itself, is in the pak files. That’s the way UE works.

No, you don’t need the source code to mod spacefish.exe. Anyone here has even cared to look for mods on other UE games? All those games are able to sideload mods with ease. Usually the only thing needed is a patched exe (patched, literally hex editing) so it allows side loading pak files that just by naming convention UE will prioritize to load. These is all intended behavior and how UE works. You can even load models and content that is not in the game, albeit it will only be visible for the client running the mod and not to other players. Go watch some modded MK videos, which uses their own forked version of UE4

The UE Project, which contains all the asset files, IS the source code. And guess what? By default the project is contained within the pak files.

But there are a few caveats to it. We need illfonic’s proprietary plugins and sdk environment in order to open the project. Without that we are limited to manually alter asset files because we can’t open the project. We are also limited to manually unpack/modify/repack the game because we can’t cook content.

Up to version 2.50 we were able to unpack/modify/repack the game with ease. The new version uses the new UE5 file storing system which requires new tools to unpack/modify/repack the game. So far, we have not being able to modify/repack succesfully. And we are still not sure if Fmodel is actually unpacking the game correctly. We know for sure is missing files, as other tools have unpacked files that Fmodel has missed.

So yeah… stfu… you don’t know shit what you are talking. And I’m not an UE modder expert, but hell at least I have some proven shit of stuff I’ve done, not just random babling about something I read online in gaming forums.
