I figured the “X” interaction icon made it clear it is PS4… perhaps I was mistaken?

It registered the start of the climb, then stop right before got to the top, throwing him in a weird drop where he got stuck for like 2 orc3 secs. Its happened to me before.

I play on PC and i don’t even get the option to climb trees if i stand that close to them.

Also, attempts to mount the tree after that fail repeatedly as I just float right passed the tree rather than mounting it.
