Ive tried to defend this game, i really have. Illfonic, please read.

So… I love predator, and ive played the shit outa this (over 100 hours) since it came out 2 weeks ago, and ive defended it constantly, and viewed it with optimism and hope thanks to the dev’s promises of fixes and free dlc to add to the very limited content.

But this is just getting ridiculous. Heres illifonic promising free content updates within a month…

And then here they go and announce (not even on here or anything, but on some fkin middle-man website. that we get Dutch on the 26th in PAID DLC, (fucking really?)

So heres my issue(s),

  • illifonic has been totally silent, other than posting meaningless shit on their social media. Other than “We hear your feedback” 14d ago… when clearly, you fucking dont, else you would of replied to someone by now.

  • There is only 3 maps, low content, but promise of free content makes this a pill you can swallow. Well that was UNTIL I SAW ITS 2 TAPES! (seriously?) while you sneak in paid DLC, which is actual content, not some audio bullshit I could make in my study.

  • Theres bugs everywhere

  • Theres exploits everywhere

  • The balance is fucked.

  • The que times and servers are broken. (Played fine all day yesterday, but now me and my friend cant get a game AT ALL).

  • The friends lists are broken, we have to restart our Epic-games 3 times for everyone to see each other online on friends list.

  • And now they’ve announced PAID DLC while literally giving us only half a game, that barely works at all.

Honestly, if it wasn’t for Covid-19 this game would of sunk already, all my friends refunded in 2 hours. I’ve kept defending and defending, but with literally no communication from them at all, they didn’t even announce the dutch thing on here, never-mind any of the communities concerns.
Our loyalty is being shit on and for the cost of this mess the announcement of paid DLC is probably gonna be the end. Id die of shock if illfonic even replied to this, or read it as I suspect this is just here for the community to circle jerk while they totally ignore it.

Its almost as if EA are running this thing with the level of obvious ‘rush it out’ mentality they’ve put in place. How the fuck half of this got past Beta is beyond me, and as someone whos spent over 100 hours on it, and defended it against friends and random people constantly… I cant even keep a straight face while I do it anymore. In fact if I talked a friend into buying this now, id actually feel guilty.

Hell some parts of this (cross play invite promises, and more content within the first month). could actually be considered as fraud.

Its a joke.

The free content update is most likely still coming. I can’t imagine they’d shoot themselves in the foot like that. Just because this is shown doesn’t mean the other doesn’t exist.

It hasn’t even been three weeks dude… There’s been communication on their social media. Just not what you’re (and some others) are wanting, and that’s fine. They’ve dropped 3 patches in two weeks and another is coming. They claim they have a lot of planned DLC and future content. Who knows how sustainable it will be, can only really hope for the best.

People are salty, sure, and understandably so. Some people are also being incredibly dramatic and toxic. It’s all over Twitter, Facebook, and their forums. It got so bad so quickly that I don’t even think anyone from their team trying to engage would help the situation.

Not blowing up engagement is common for new titles dealing with a lot of negativity. Devs and pubs (non AAA) from all over have done it. Now will they come around when things are more stable to engage further? Hopefully. But who knows. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Dude, your a total moron, im not even gonna try and educate you, i have neither the patience or years required. But if I ever make a half-assed game, I know i can count on window-lickers like you to buy it for me <3

I dunno, people like that are literally the reason that for the last 10 years the game industry has sunk, because they let devs get away with this level of bullshit.

For God’s sake, just look at CD-Proyect, so much success and they don’t sell dlc… just good games and expansions…
do you want my money? i’m going to give to illfonic but show me that you are going to improve your game, show that you love it and work to make it better.

DLC is Down Loadable Content correct? I just want to make sure I have the terms straight in my mind.

I say this because in my opinion, skins and cosmetics are not content. Maps, game modes, classes, equipment, etc. are content.

It is still not clear to me if this Dutch patch is content or not. It would seem to me that distributors/companies have become sloppy with the use of the term DLC, or we the players have lowered our expectations quite a bit over the years.

Hell, sell all the skins and cosmetics you want, as long as they fit into the genre of the game that is. (Please keep the cat ears and wings away from Predator: Hunting Grounds thank you!)

But in my mind it is still not clear to me if this announcement has anything to do with the fated “free content update in about a month” or not.

To be fair, Arnold came in and recorded voice lines for this game. They flew him out to the studio for a weekend before the virus, and they recorded voice work for his fireteam usage and the audio tapes.

I doubt Arnold just came and did that for free. They probably had to pay out the asshole for licensing to even use his likeness, and he probably has a royalties deal for every DLC sold… it is 100% understandable that he wont be free, and as long as they add any type of free content alongside him, it will be fine.

The fact they’ve not posted on these forums in 14d, even to say “Oh these are the issues we’re looking into” with a list, hell id even take an “Ok” at this point, but the tumbleweed silence is just mental, rubbed in with the meaningless crap they post on twitter like “We love skulls!”.
