I’m fairly certain that the whole point of the first predator movie was to subvert the idea of the macho man, as Dutch had no chance against the predator physically. It was his “wits” against the predator that saved him.

I will say one of the things that makes Aliens a great film that you don’t see today is the subtlety with which it makes it’s points. In a manner that different people are able to walk away after seeing it with different perspectives based on their perception.

Alien is Ridley Scott. Aliens is Cameron. Both have plenty of subtle messaging and imagery throughout far better crafted than today’s. Anti-corporate is present yes, but I’d hardly call it the prevailing them of either
