My issue with it is not that it is different, but how different it is. What I mean is that I think it is okay to change the design, again like City Hunter, but they changed the design to a point that it barely looks like a Yautja.

Yup best examples of how they changed and kept the close enough to the jungle hunter was city hunter and wolf.

While opinion is that the classic Preds (1 and 2) are ABSOLUTELY superior in design, I’m not against differences like Feral or the Supers, I expect from breeding and genetic augmentation.

And just to clarify, I fully understand that the city hunter face and the JH face fall under the same category where as Feral and supers are a different category. No need to clarify that, we’re on the same page there.
I still think the design of this Yautja looks horrible because of how much they changed it.
And I wasn’t trying to say that they always have to look exactly like the original face design, I was trying to say they should all resemble the original face design, with minor changes that fit what ever the different species it is supposed to be. I hope that is more understandable, and I will keep trying to make my points more clear, also as an attempt to make myself more clear I added drastically change to my original post instead of just change.

Okay, so this argument relies on the older design straight up being better. Why is that? What’s wrong with the new design and what’s right about the old?

To clarify my position, I think the face works with the mask, in synergy, but the new face without the mask fails. I’m just trying to understand the reasoning others have.
honestly think the only problem with the new pred design is just his sunken eyes they look too deep into the skull to me
i know it’s mostly caused due to an illusion caused by the darkness/shade of the eyes to give this appearance but it really does give him a comical almost Neanderthal esc look to him
aside from that though i think he looks fine
I think the older design is better because it felt more real, it felt like something that could actually exist, and it felt like every part of it’s face had a function, I don’t know what most of them would be though. This looks more rubbery and a lot less real than the original, and it has designs that don’t make sense like the weird indent above the eyes. Is it a scar or something? Yes it is ugly, and not in a good way like the originals. Yes sub-species should look similar to one another, I know it is over used but dogs and wolves. I also agree that it does look good with the helmet, but I was talking about how it fails compared to other Yautja unmasked and it is a good example of the creators trying drastically change the design when it’s unnecessary. I hope this answers your questions.

I have to disagree. Sub species should be used, in most situations, as ways to explore different possibilities with the same creature.
Besides you name wolf and dogs, I name huskies and pugs.
Plus spiders vary a lot I believe. At least to the extent of preds.
What artist could resist that temptation? To add your own flair and design to a beloved franchise.
The new pred design kinda bothered me at first but it was because it was so animalistic and demonic looking. But after watching the movie, I can see why they went with that bone mask and rugged design, as it fits the theme of the film.

I’m thinking chinese knockoff predator was due to the lawsuit. They just had an interchangeable invisible movie monster and could flip it last second if neccessary.
They could say it looks nothing like the original if they had to and they even went out of their way to change the cloak, mask, dreads, ditched all the decorations, netting, removed its signature weapon, even the clicking isn’t right.
or its just that bad and preds will just get worse who knows
