They changed it because you deserve it. Kind of like the Predator 2 Scout Figure Ultimate NECa figure. Look - so original! This way he doesn’t have to chew. He just swallows.

Kinda like xenomorphs look very different. Deacons, neomorph, predalien, etc.

I think this is just a new and/or extinct Predator species. Hate it, love it, whatever, let the creators have creative freedom and re-imagine characters how they best think it works for them. Nothing worse than having restraint from fans and/or studios as to what content one can create/modify.

First the relationship between Yautja and Xenos is nowhere near similar to dogs and cats. Also, sure drastically changing the design would work, if we hadn’t already seen that standard Yautja, not sub-species, all look really similar.

I think they would have looked at the different variations in PHG to see if they would try something knew or choose something that had relations to the original design. Just looking at either the female body and face or the Alpha Pred face you can bet that anything that was slightly different comes off a bit comical. they can’t bank on the original look anymore because there are too many films with it (AVP/P2). They even tried to merge Superpreds with the original design by shortening its tusks.
From these examples, i don’t think anyone would be very surprised with the results if they raped the original JH look.

But we don’t know if is really a “standard yautja”… even the cloak is different, the mask, doesn’t have energy weapons, doesn’t even have the wrist computer bomb.

I’m glad they named the movie “Prey” and not “Predator” as to imply, this may not even be a Yautja, but something different, kinda like engineers and humans

I like that idea. I think that it would be a lot better if they made this not a Yautja but a creature that is very similar. I saw someone on here, I can’t remember who, saying their theory is that this is one of the last Hish. I really like that idea and I think that it would save this design for me.
