I was listening to a streamer that brought up an interesting point on the net gun. What was said was, if a fire team member can cut another fire team member out of the net, why is it when the predator starts slicing the fire team when they are netted, the net does not give way? I thought that was an interesting point. Thanks TRobes.

Technically from a lore standpoint I am pretty sure that the FT knives shouldn’t be able to cut Predator nets. It’s just in here for game balance purposes. Don’t overthink it

Well, imo devs can make something like this: Only 1 net can be active (you can’t net 2,3 or 4 ft at the same time), Net duration is endless, traped ft player cannot release himself (exception - if he is the last one), pred can do 2 hits before net is destroyed (range attacks count too), ft members can release him with 2 knife hits.
This will force ft members to play as a team and stay close to each other, and punish rushers and other kids

I like the 2 hit knife part, but I like being able to get out of the net myself

Don’t like it. Between trying to avoid the Predator and trying to out dps the Pred, the Predator will still be out DPS and the FT will just sit in the net which would be annoying for that player. Not to mention bad teamates.
Why are people stuck on that idea so much?

This is can have sence for not being netted for entire game on another side of the map
Because it’s not a weapon
A. It is though. It literally shoots nets that can kill you. And if you want lore look at Stalking Shadows. You could use that thing in a Butcher shop.
B. What about the PDL? That’s even less of a weapon than the net gun.
C. I find that Contrived. It’s a WEAPON slot but it’s not a WEAPON so it doesn’t belong. It looks at it entirely from a name perspective and ignores any game implications and goes nope doesn’t matter.
D. What about the wrist launcher. Thats a weapon in the gear slot.

From a realistic standpoint, yeah… it should break as soon as the Pred goes melee
From a game standpoint, then there would be no use to use the netgun. You are not going to use the netgun to go shooting with the bow or caster

Tbh its a gear item in all the movies. Its not a weapon per say. Sure in Pred 2 it was handheld. But in AvP when Scar shoots weyland and his butler bodyguard it cam out of his wrist gauntlet. I find ot would server a better purpose as a gear and has a high velocity to it so it would just pin you to a nearby wall. Draw back would be that if a ft player is not near a wall and you didn’t shoot right down on them
To pin them to the ground the net would be useless
