She serves to illustrate that even if your experiences are similar you may not understand the other persons experience by how they act.
She is innately a deconstruction of the strong female trope but also kills aliens and doesn’t afraid of anything despite this.
While Rei exists as a puppet and never challenges anyone’s opinion ever, at all times.
