News about Prey 2022

Admittedly, Pred only had one hand. I feel like if CH didn’t lose that arm it might have ended differently.

Well yeah but City decided to do something stupid and lost his arm for it. From what it sounds with Feral, Feral doesn’t make a mistake he’s just busy fighting other dudes when Naru shoots him in the back and that makes him lose his mask. Lord fucking knows how many times that has happened in game…

I think Preds should win all the time, but something weird happens and they lose. I guess it would be more interesting if both sides would win sometimes. By now we have been conditioned that Preds always lose so the suspense is gone. Only salvageable thing is how they lose, and if we’re already at this point, there is no way to make a good ending, in my opinion.

I think anybody going into either Alien or Predator and expecting them to ya know, win, is stupid. We’ve had like 40 years, not even counting almost every other Horror franchise, to just know “Yeah they’re the monster, they’re gonna lose unless the movie decides to be an edgy subversion.”

And I want them to win, I want more stories where they win. Half the fun of beating FT in this is showing off the win, the other half is FT is broken as fuck and its funny if they lose even with all that to back them. But that ain’t ever gonna be in a movie, we barely ever get them winning in the expanded universe. Its why characters like Scarface stick with us, a huge exception to all the rules and a cool character to boot.

Very few horror or sci-fi films end with the monster winning, and I think those film stand out more because of that. Like The Thing, or Halloween III. Those end with an obvious victory for the monster, and they leave a very unsettling feeling after it’s over. It’s probably why it rarely happens, they want a satisfied audience.

The Thing is very deliberately ambiguous. Carpenter has never stated who, if anyone, is actually infected. It is very possible neither are, they could be two normal dudes, they could both be a Thing, it could be either one of them. There is no canon answer.

I think they need a different plot. Something where humans are up to no good and Pred is around for the hunt. I guess anti-hero, but would make a Pred win more likely

Indeed, but the ending regardless is not positive at all. Whether one is the Thing or not, there is a undeniable negative outcome if we were to continue the film.

They were on the top of a tall building right? That’s way more than 20ft. I also don’t think the movies ever show the predator making huge leaps, and honestly I think the leaps in PHG are way too big, and there should be fall damage for the Predator and much more fall damage for the Fireteam.

For City Hunter, even if the fall didn’t kill Him, it may have broken his legs and risked capture, so blowing himself up was the correct choice, given their rules/code.

Another consideration is that pred could have pushed off and leaped to next building. But i guess the plot was intent on making this kind of scene progression.

Another question is why did self destruct shut down after arm was cut off. Doesn’t Scar take off gauntlet in AVP and it still detonates?

I believe the bomb/gauntlet was directly cut in half.

You are correct. I didn’t notice that.

Looking at the adjacent buildings, they seem to be about 14 floors up, and that estimates to about 150ft(45m).

Would’ve been much more than half a city block

Depends on the charge. Blast radius can be as small as a storage room (As seen in AVP 2010) or as far as 24 kilometres (1 City Block is 0.05 Miles, X by 300, ya get 24 Kilometres).

Think the Blast Radius in this game is like 70 to 80 metres, which honestly is what I presume Jungle’s Wrist-Computer was set to explode at since this game just loves to jack off the first movie and there’s no way Dutch ran 300 City Blocks like Keyes said the bomb could do.

300 square blocks = 17.3 x 17.3

If 300 square blocks are within a circle then:
Diameter 19.5 blocks = radius of 9.75 blocks

Considering Dutch was at the center, he would simply run the radius, if he ran a straight line.

9.75 x 0.05 = about a 1/2 mile(800m)

If a square area, the shortest distance would be:
17.3 / 2 = 8.65 x 0.05 = about 0.43 miles(700m)

Side Note: I don’t think Dutch made it to the edge of the blast radius. It seemed like he jumped into cover to avoid the blast.

Did you try to use math and logic on THIS forum? For shame sir.

Hah. I’m sorry. Shame on me. 🤦‍♂️

M’yeah, but does he conceal-carry?

Predator and Indiana Jones have taught me that all you need to do to survive a nuke is hide in a small ditch or within a fridge. I have no idea why people fear nukes if they can be countered so easily.
