That was Dutch’s greatest mistake in not bringing his tactical desk, luckily he was able to find a small ditch 30’ from the explosion.

Would’ve been an interesting and dark ending had Dutch actually died in the explosion. Anna would’ve been the only one to know what truly happened, but certainly no one would’ve believed her. 🤔

At least the fridge was lead lined. Dutch got crazy lymphoma!

Would’ve at least let the preds keep some sort of mystery left to them.

Just inject some green goo and you’re golden, cancer be gone I say.

Nuclear exploding would draw some questions tho. I think OWLF might believe her.

Aliens “won” in Covenant and look how that turned out.

Just because the villain/monster wins in a movie doesn’t mean it’s going to be bad. There are a lot of great movies where the villain wins, such as The Empire Strikes Back and The Wicker Man 1973.

It could work out, but the problem is that the usual writing capability of writers in this day and age is consistent with that of a wet napkin. It’s shit, and you have to deal with the shit story.

I wish that was true but it’s not. 1718/Golden Angel takes place in the year of 1718.

I agree with you, both of the movies I mentioned are over 40 years old. It feels like there is no effort put into most movies anymore, compare The Texas Chain Saw Massacre 1974 to the Netflix reboot, the quality difference is insane, even though the original was made 48 years ago.

Watching Baywatch, kinda. Rated MA, lol. Would be funny if Prey was PG13

Funny that I found someone that tapped on this and it’s what I’ve been saying all this time…

Some may read this article and scoff. You may say that these earlier examples are different than Prey because earlier Predator films weren’t made with an agenda, but what have we seen up to this point? The monster was itself brought to life by a black man, the films feature diverse casts, have already featured leads that were people of color and women, and the series has gone so far as to show primarily people of color and women (Harrigan, Noguchi, and Lex) shown open respect by Predator tribes. So what has changed? Not the Predator series. What has changed is now there is a cult of content creators who are telling you, the viewer, that you’re supposed to be angry. Had such content creators been around when any of the above examples were released, Danny Glover would have been called a diversity hire, Noguchi and Lex would have been called ‘woke propaganda’ and the series would have been subject to innumerable such criticisms as ugly as they were pitiful.

It was and always has been culture war bullshit, just anti-sjws telling you that women lead means bad, even though that we had female leads before and in action films before and this is no different, only that politics became more charged up throughout the years. If the films of before were made now, like Ripley and Sarah from Aliens and Terminator, you will never hear the end of this shit being woke or whatever. People should stop falling for it and judge a film by the whole.

They aren’t saying women leads are bad inherently. It’s when they FOCUS on them being a woman. A bad ass character is a badass character regardless of them being a man or woman.

If the original leak had said that Naru hunts the pred because she’s a lucky survivor of its attack on the tribes hunters and needs to protect her tribe because she’s the only one who knows what they’re dealing with that’s a good way to introduce her. Her whole reasoning of “defying gender norms” and “because you said I can’t” is terrible and hamfisted writing. It immediately ignores her accomplishments and character and focuses on WHAT she is not WHO she is.

Let’s be clear. Prey will not be good by default just because of the lead character. It may not be that scary, it may be lacking in suspense, and the action might prove underwhelming. Some of the above examples have already received such criticisms, criticisms that have been met with open ears. Where the line is crossed is the focus on the lead character, not for how well they’re written, but simply for being included at all. Diversity and trailblazing are not only something that has been part of Predator since the original, but it’s one of the things that have made the series great. Amber Midthunder’s Naru is one more face in a long line of characters that have proven time and time again that the strength to defeat the alien hunters is found all over the world.

Problem is yet again is that it doesn’t matter, people were still hampering on how will the native woman take on the 7ft+ heavy advanced alien hunter? As if this kind of question wasn’t talked about before in different forms like how can a measly knight take on a dragon that can breath fire? Its how the magic is done man, you never see people get all up and arms about it when a lone man takes on the giant enemy but when a woman does, god forbid…and you see this here on the forums more then the the line itself. Plus, spite is a human motivation that people have used to pursue their goals before, this should be no different.

Yeah I read the spoiler rundown for this movie and I could only point on one problem with the overview and that’s the fact Naru’s INITIAL motivation is because “The men of the Tribe told her no” I think the movie is gonna be good, better than 2010 & 2018 and it sounds like a return to form. But that one sentence did stand out to me as utterly dogshit writing trying to push a message. They didn’t act like that IRL.

I think the movie is gonna be good, I think it’ll probably be the 3rd best movie at worst, Like it can’t be any more bad than 2010 or 2018 & certainly won’t be worse than the two AVP films. But that line is dogshit and shouldn’t be in the movie.

Especially not when the rest of the movie does a good job at actually kicking Naru around & throwing her through the ringer, so they clearly understand that a good character needs to suffer & have flaws. Don’t get why they couldn’t have a better starting motivation.

To be very clear, I don’t think Prey is woke. I think it’ll have ONE shit line in a 90 minute script. But it won’t be woke, a woke movie wouldn’t let Naru suffer, it wouldn’t have her make mistakes or get hurt. We know she’s getting smacked around a little and going to have a lot of emotional damage by the end of the movie. This is very clearly not gonna be another Rey situation. If people think Prey is woke because it has a minority lead, they’ve never experienced the rest of the series & are a tard. If they think because it has a minority lead its automatically better or that something being woke is good, they’re also a tard.

Now let’s get back to discussing shit that doesn’t wanna make vibe check myself with a 12 gauge.

I read the spoilers as well. I got the impression that she became interested in hunting on her own, and, when she was told to stay at the camp and do “women” stuff, she insists that hunting is what she wants to do.

Yeah , its so unbelievable that those pesky ruskies would be fucking around with nuclear bombs in the remote jungle 😄.

How do we know jungle hunter wasn’t a Russian agent all along? 🤔

As for the woke/not woke debate .

I hope the movie is good , if the positive hype from people who have seen it is genuine? Good . The whole “woke” argument comes from disney itself and the very first inkling on the movie was “a female going against gender norms” . The track record would make it reasonable to assume . I think regardless , if its good or not , being straight to VOD will hurt it.

Look at marvel and star wars , they are going down the tubes with a lot of their fanbase , “the force is female” and all that shite . If things are to be believed ? Midthunder was coming out with the feminist shit and the director tried to shoot it down . These movies and shows really give you the impression that even if the creators don’t really want to push that narrative, its as if its a requirement to get the green light.

I will save criticism for when I sit down and watch it for myself , but I find the trend these days is that most movies/shows with overwhelming “positive” reviews actually suck.

As a 90s kid , one of the first memories I have is watching dutch fight jungle hunter 😁 predator 2 was always my preferred go to as a lot of the 87 movie is suspense building up . Pred 2 jumps straight into the action .
