I dont think the player base wants to be trained.

For what I’ve seen there’s kinda like generation gaps on this game.

You have literally children playing this game. 99.9% have no clue what they are doing. Then that 0.1% kid is a miracle of nature that plays better than BladeMaster (joking, im exaggerating, but you get the point)

Then you have the teenagers and early twenties. Most are really sweaty players who don’t like to lose. Some are much better than others but in their mind, they are the best player in the game and anyone who’s any better must be cheating.

Finally you have the late 30’s early 40’s players. These dudes will chill, sip on beer and give less of a fuck about winning. They have played and beat so many video games in their lives they don’t feel the need to prove themselves. They know how to aim with a D-Pad. They have played every console generation and watched the evolution of video games. They are the coolest of the bunch (Yes, im turning 40 in a few weeks)

This has been my experience for the most part as well with the player base. You’re right too that I don’t think the player base wants to be trained either.

Consider though the player base ain’t exactly gotten what they’ve wanted since the get go either so we can assume Illfonic is okay with the “it’s our game we’ll do what we want” mentality. It would groom the player base one way or the other. Either turn it to a more competitive/mature one or (most likely) kill it by thinning it out too far.

what i meant is

it’s too easy
the predator
(without player skills)
is basically too weak
I can do pubs by myself
and then there has to be a “name” as Predator,
because otherwise FT just wins,

…I thought if the Predator players got more perk slots
(no more points!)
,new builds could be made, which I think can also be effective…it’s kind of a shame, because there are many perks that !never! being touched…although these perks would be good.

It took me about one week to get the hang of it. From then on I will rarely lose as Pred unless there’s a very good player on the team. And it has to be very good for me to lose.

If you are having trouble in pubs, you need to keep playing. Possibly analyze the control scheme and adjust/re-bind the buttons to something that makes more sense and is more comfortable to you.

To me, once I started re-arranging the keybinds to something that made more sense to me, I starting winning immediately. At least on PC, a lot of this game keybinds don’t make much sense.

This is indeed a casual game.
Moreover, it’s A GAME.

must’ve have a 90% winrate somewhere from the 3 ppl using it for memes/exploit

One of devs got killed by a potato Pred spamming the wristlauncher and was long claimed on fire while the 3 randoms did nothing. Thats why It was nerfed. Nerf pred buff potatos.

It’s supposed to be imbalanced hence the use of the word asymmetrical

Predators don’t come to stomp ants

They come to test their limits

The time limit is a big hindrance IMO

It’s a fight to the death not a boxing match

Time limit makes it so you can’t be calculated

You have to move fast and hit hard

If you weren’t having to fight the clock on top of the FT it would be better

The actual 15 minutes is enough to defeat almost any FT team. The problem is that missions can be finished in 4-6 minutes. With pred pressuring, that can be extended to 7-10 minutes. So 5 minutes of intended time doesn’t even factor in. Against a good team, if pred doesn’t not kill an FT on more than two assault attempts, they extract. Very low margin for error.

The Predator really should be the mission since FT is OWLF

And the missions should be side missions

After 15 mins the helicopter comes for extraction but can be shot at reducing the amount of time it can wait for FT

Any remaining FT would be forced to fight to the death without a time limit

I had another idea where there are no AI and FT is dropping into a blood bath

This would boost FT and Pred players in any given game

Some teams play like that. But peed can easily run away if he can’t match FT, plus FT would be vulnerable if they are far away from med kits, reinforcements, ammo crates. It would take a lot of rebalancing and that an unrealistic expectation when simpler issues are not fixed.

There have been many threads about possible game modes. None made the cut so far.

It should be a slower game in terms of match pace. Ft speed needs to be reduced for everything but support.
No one should run faster than assualt current speed.

But also the missions should literally be the same way wildlands played. A high stealth focus or very little chance of survival.

People complain about the A.I. but they should be just as big as an obstacle as the pred, and the main enemy.
If it was that way, then current ft damage would be fine.

There should also be ways to fail the mission, and for ways to sabotage the mission.
Making the A.i. an actual threat and the mission more more difficult, could also allow to make the A.I a threat for pred as well.

This could even allow for pred to get objectives in some missions, or a new mode that would make it so both pred and ft have a mission and both are competing on an objective.

Theres so much potential but ya know.
