I did a search in the Forum but didn’t find an answer for the following question:
Is there a change that you pick an OWFL tape and it’s actually a duplicate of one you already “own”?
For example, you have the tape #3 then in a match you collect a “new” tape–but could it be a duplicate of your #3?
If so, then it’s damn hard collecting them all :D
I don’t think they duplicate. However, you don’t actually get a new tape unless you escape on the chopper. If you’re left behind or dead, you get nothing.
I think only the first person that picks it up gets it too- it’s not supposed to continue to show up for the other players but it does so you can pick it up but it won’t register, from what I’ve read on here

the predator can pick them up too but you only keep em if you kill everyone
It doesn’t have to be everyone, just one of the ones that has collected a tape for the Predator. Multiple people can pick up a tape, but a chopper ride is needed to keep them for the FT.

so far ive found five different tapes, im not seeing any indication they will duplicate them. I am noticing that the tapes are randomly scattered and can be found on any map
You don’t have to worry about duplicates. I have collected the same tape in a match with friends, it was tape 11 for him and different for me since I already had that one. You won’t have to worry about dupes until you have collected them all and it no longer matters.

Only found one. Can never spot them. Do they appear in specific places?
same for purple stacks if you get left. once collected 5 or so, only got like 30 V from the blue piles.
Yeah, they don’t duplicate, unless I got really lucky and got my 20th one yesterday and now I have the complete set. I’m never that lucky.
I think they are found anywhere you find veritanium. Its red rarity, so not often, but it happens.

Just curious are these audio tapes? If so are they read by boris johnson, I mean gary busey? Always get them two confused
Yeap, they are audio tapes telling some background story to OWLF and Stargazer.
I beliee they’re read by Jake Busey, son of Gary Busey—but then again, it might be just Boris Johnson earning some cash via “legal” means :D
I saw it happening a few times.
My post was more about, if by any change would you be picking up a repeat of an already owned tape; but it seems, there’s a tracking to that, so you’ll only collect the 20 without a repeat, so if you pick one of those tapes whilst playing, you’re certain that it will not be a duplicate of one you already added to your collectibles.
