Seems to be how phg was handled until recently, but this kinda changes things. My verdict is to wait to pass judgement on what IllFonic is doing until they start putting out this revival and we can see the quality of that.
Given their history I find a continuation of minimal fixes and only churning out cash grab DLC to be the most likely, but I’d love to see the game turned into a true passion project for the PHG community.

Thanks for the info. Also, let’s not forget they are going to take care of publishing. 20th century or Disney might come in with the revival and we don’t know, or at least I don’t know so far, what they will bring in as teams.

Do you folks know any projects the studios associate with them did or overseer?

Idk much about associated teams or if this is an order from up top given to IllFonic. Will be keeping my eyes and ears open for both of those

Wait, I did a brief search and it seems the 20th century gaming studio had involvement in Aliens versus Predator (including the Rebellion one and classic). As well as multiple franchise games (avatar, Simpsons etc.).

I also see that they were involved in alien games? Isolation maybe? It also shows on some sites they are in charge of some Aliens survival game (possible sequel to Isolation)?

Looks decent and legit

Apparently Illfonic has also taken control over publishing from Sony, so hopefully we get significantly more communication to the community, but I personally doubt it. OKH and C mentioned that being the bottleneck for all community communications, so ideally without that, the next community manager can be much more interactive and honest with the community.

Wait, I don’t think Sony was responsible for all the down sides. Come on, let’s be serious, Sony strives almost all the time for quality products in many ways.

And the fact that Illfonic has the publishing rights somehow?!? I don’t know if things will change in a good direction necessarily, in this sense.

Illfonic, given it has 20th century or Disney on board now, will most likely have a scapegoat somehow to put in play.

“Oh, it wasn’t us, it was the other guys!” Type of excuses

You are on point tho with the need for the community managers to do a better job with engaging and listening and filter feedback to and from the community.

PS: I don’t think they will pick up the cesspool of toxicity this forum has become anyway.

Sony’s garbage in terms of quality products, Spiderman 2 is primary example.

OKH and C said that Sony was the bottleneck for all community communications and they wanted to communicate more, whether they were telling the truth or just scapegoating I’m not sure. Either way, I wouldn’t be surprised.

Communication to the community will probably be a pretty good indicator of how things will go. If they really step it up, I’d personally put more faith in the future of the game. If they keep on the way they were, I’d take that as a good piece of evidence they’re just gonna keep doing what they were as far as releasing cash grab dlcs and breaking the game further with “fixes and balancing”.

Speaking of fixes and balancing. I experienced plenty of issues that didn’t occur and made the game more playable by reinstalling the build back in the day when updates and content was flowing.

I am sure plenty of folk don’t do that, on a once in a while basis.

And the fact that people don’t reinstall the build/game from time to time (even if Illfonic did a poor job with patching as a process along with quality) for the sake of things, some problems would pop up for the rest on the sessions as well.

And yeah, I know arguments like “well the game didn’t come with a brochure to reinstall once in a while” or “but why should I do that since they don’t do their good job from the get go”, but come on. How painful is to think a bit and give the possible problem solving action a go?

That being said, it wouldn’t amaze me if I bump into people who never reinstalled and kept updating the game since launch or scarcely. And it’s daunting given the nature of things.

2.49 patch has been released Jan 2023! Get a clue Illfonic!

That’s peculiar, indeed. That’s why I can say it can be a April fools or something.

Well if its released on April1st, Easter Monday, it would make sense. but at the same time I wouldn’t be surprised if they actually did release something and possibly bank on it.
