PHG Anniversary Update & Predator Legal Issues

I believe the brothers attempted (though perhaps incorrectly) to file for copyright reclamation before the merger. This would’ve happened anyway.

The brothers haven’t really done much in the industry as of late, and I don’t see them managing a franchise. This is about seeking a payday via settlement or licensing agreements. Disney would still own the copyright to all current material and the international rights, so they’d have to be worked with.

Voodoo, Ridge, you guys shouldn’t bother with this forum, trust me

So them they knew on the 17th that they wiuld not be able to release the update, correct?

What is happening now?
There has been a lot of talk about lawsuits for a while now, but did illfonic have another rights dispute?
It is difficult to know exactly what is going on because it is happening across the ocean and the language is different.

So what I want to know is
Is PHG in conflict with rights issues?
Where was it with? How did it happen? I’d like to know.

It would seem so. Lightning strikes twice. Likely we won’t have any news until May 17th, the date of next court hearing.

It’s on May 27th.

We’d all like to know, and unfortunately Illfonic kind of screwed themselves by hyping twice in the span of a few days and not delivering twice. If they knew this was coming, and they should have at this point, there shouldn’t have been any hyping.

Is there really a lawsuit issue going on!
What a company with no luck, illfonic…

What is the actual process of the litigation issue?
I don’t really understand the process. Does it mean that Disney and some other company merged and there was a problem with illfonic, which had a contract with them before that?

I hope @OldKingHamlet and @Courier can say something sooner rather than later regarding all that going on

I wouldn’t call it luck. I think it was expectex when they undertook the project. If it wasn’t, then they didn’t do thier homework, again

I think once may hits and april update is not our, an explain is expected even with legal limitations

I think it is still debatable what new content means.
Are new Predator versions new content? Most likely.
Are existing Predators/Characters from other works new content? I’d say this is debatable.
Are bugfixes new content? Definitely not.
Is balancing new content? Definitely not.
Are new Maps new content? Most likely, but still debatable.
Are new Game Modes for the existing Maps new content? Debatable IMHO.

So I guess if it’s the case that we will receive an update AND Illfonic is involved in this legal stuff, what everybody assumes, but nobody 100% knows, we will most likely only see adjustments to the current gameplay and bugfixes.

Yea see this is my point. If they were having all this trouble or issues dealing with the case problem why talk about all this weekend of newness and try to create hype. Based on the content passed April 17th effect they would’ve known if that affected them. If things just spawned on them sporraticaly and then that alone warrants a statement towards content delay and not just the stream. Cuz unless the update drops in the next 3 days (which I doubt), it no longer is in April thus goes against when they said the next update will be.

I’m still trying to understand this, but…
Are you saying that on 4/17, the rights holder banned the development of new content using existing IP, and PHG may have clashed with that?

Oh my god… We thought it wouldn’t be a problem, but then at the last minute, we got stopped…

Yes, there is a legal dispute about the rights and seemingly PHG is affected

After all, which is the correct X-day, 5/17 or 5/27?

5/27 is correct. 5/17 is resident evil
